They have no mojo. Remember the one 25 shot period then the 3 shot period. Whatever happened there is the same thing ruining it, clearly they aren't having fun and lost the creativity

I keep seeing Hartley's name out there tonight.

From what it sounds like, Hartley wasn't let go because he was a terrible coach, but rather because of personality conflicts. His time had expired in that respect. He wasn't coming back. And GG isn't getting fired IMO either. We're stuck with this for this season at least. Let's hope they all figure it out soon.

Flames need to simplify their game IMO. Skate hard, play safe, play smart.

The fancy, high-risk plays are killing them.

Pretty glad I have Centre Ice. Out of market games are going to be a lot more entertaining than the Flames this season. I'll be watching lots of Flyers games, and maybe jump on the Lightning bandwagon.

This is legitimately some of the worst, least inspired, slow paced hockey i have ever seen. Every time someone gets the puck, the legs stop moving, there's no rush, there's no complete passing, there's no strong backchecking. Its just 100% awful uninspired zero effort hockey. Minus stajan, he actually looks like he's trying. I haven't been this disinterested in years, after the expectation coming into the season.

This team is as fragile as I have ever seen a Flames team. Any confidence they might have is always torpedoed with a bad play or period of hockey. They panic a lot and resort to playing as individuals. It's as if they don't trust the system Gully is trying to teach them.

We're a better team that what the record shows and it's frustrating when you see the above happen game after game. It's becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.

Watched previous games on TV - saw the game tonight in the Dome. The Flames didn't look any better live.

Too many bad plays: players trying to trap pucks when their back is to the play; pathetic long passes that have no hope of arriving; no-look plays that turn the puck over in the neutral zone; the complete inability to control pucks. This is a team in trouble. They have no idea what they're doing. THAT is on the coaches.

There were slight rumblings of boos in the Dome from time to time. Keep up the confused play and there will be a lot more.

If we set aside the coaching witch hunt for a second, it is inexcusable how the players are playing and executing.

They look timid, confused, disinterested...I could go on.

They're making dumb reads, panicking with and without the puck, constantly looking jittery as if every pass handcuffs them.

And it doesn't matter what the system is or isn't. Whether the Flames had no coaches at all or had Scotty Bowman, Mike Babcock and Bill Belichick behind te bench, they'd still lose. They are playing that bad.

I was just about to watch the game, but reading through this it sounds like more of the same.

Such high hopes to start the season and it could be all over before the end of October.

Probably about 80-90% of the time.

A lot of his predictions tend to come true.
But sometimes when he gets going, I can hardly understand him.

Robert and George are probably 2 of the best callers. It's downhill from here.

At least Wideman looked decent. And I really like Brouwer.

Yeah, Robert is definitely a knowledgeable fan, he just kinda gets annoying when he gets shouty and on a rant. George is generally nicer to listen to, also raises pretty good points.

People make fun of him because the way he sounds but if they'd actually listen to him over the years you can tell he's a very knowledgable hockey fan.

When it is all of your skill players demonstrating the same problem, you have to question the instruction.

This reminds me of when the Oilers under Eakins were really winning the Corsi battle out there, but getting hammered during the games. Taylor Hall would float a long wrister on net from outside the blueline rather than chipping the puck into the corner and letting his linemates try to win a battle. But hey, the Corsi was great.

The problem with the advanced stat guys is that they are so focused on a system that they forget that the stats are based on the assumption that players are trying to score goals. When you change that focus to priortize scoring Corsi, the whole scheme falls flat.
