FLAMES' TEAM SCOPE: The Flames are looking to regroup after a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. Calgary failed to convert on their six power plays against the Hurricanes -- an area of their game head coach Glen Gulutzan singled out in his post-game media address. "It took a lot of life out of us," he said. "A couple of times our power play had chances to bail us out, especially late ones, and didn't get anything. So it took a lot of life out of us." Prior to Thursday's loss, the Flames had picked up three points in two games with a shootout setback in Vancouver on Oct. 15 and a 4-3 overtime win against Buffalo on Oct. 18.
Keys to Flames Win
1) Generate speed, stop standing around and start moving
2) Gain zone entry and move the puck on the powerplay, create cracks in Blues PK box
3) Make some damn timely saves

Hasn't been a great matchup in recent years for the Flames. While I will hope and cheer for an epihany for the team, I imagine this will be another loss.

I'm ready for some more adjustments to be made, system and lineup wise. Hopefully GG will do something to spark these guys.

Unfortunately the Blues are a powerhouse, but I just have a feeling the Flames will show up tonight and play like world-beaters. A dominant 4-1 win, outshooting the Blues 37-22.

Win or lose, I just want to see some passion in the team tonight. That last game was unbearable to watch.
Oh, and just an aside, I'm really happy to see so many different posters put up game day threads so far this year. I genuinely thought nobody would bother to try, but I was proven wrong, happily so. I'm enjoying the variety of styles, both in graphics and writing. Keep it up CP!

Perfect opportunity for Elliott to steal a few saves this game if he starts. I thought he looked pretty good after the first period against the Hurricanes.

Maybe a quality opponent is what it's going to take to get a solid effort from this group. They certainly have played down to the level of their opponents to start the season.
