I know exactly which house you are referring to. It's actually not that bad, and I have never seen any fights, yelling, etc. coming from the residence. I live across the street, and have even parked my vehicle overnight on the street in front of the house. I even made small talk with a group of them, after exiting my vehicle.

I could see why people get the wrong impression, as some of the guests/residents look intimidating, and are from a low socio-economic status. However, I have had no problems with any of the guests/residents since I moved here, and I walk to 17Ave SW all the time.

UPDATE:

Arrest warrant issued for woman accused in beating death

An arrest warrant has now been issued for one of the people accused of beating to death a Colombian man on the streets of Calgary.

Chantell Tiffany Campbell failed to show up for her preliminary inquiry for second degree murder.

Campbell is charged alongside two others, Garrett Elliot Lee Smith and Jarod Donald Henry.

Looks like all three suspects were granted bail about a year ago, and now one of the suspects violates it. Why are these animals not at the Remand Centre?

Convictions overturned in beating death of John Herrera Garcia
49-year-old victim had recently brought his family to Canada from Colombia
CBC News Posted: Oct 21, 2016 6:09 PM MT Last Updated: Oct 21, 2016 6:38 PM MT

A new trial has been ordered for two people found guilty of second-degree murder in a fatal attack on a man walking home with groceries in Calgary's Beltline.

Chantelle Campbell and Jarod Henry were found guilty of second-degree murder last year.

However, Crown lawyers have consented to both convictions being overturned and new trials have been ordered by Alberta's Court of Appeal.

"She's elated," said Campbell's lawyer Pawel Milczarek. "She's looking forward to presenting her side of the story to a jury."

I hate when judges make a mistake and then the wheel of justice starts spinning again.

Why is this chick excited to tell her story, did she not have a chance to talk in the first trial?

She was convicted at the first trial when she didn't testify = realizes she better testify at the 2nd trial to have a chance.

If the Crown consented you know there was a serious error.

People who know the law better than me:

Does this mean the defendants will remain in custody while the new trial proceeds? Or is the verdict of the first trial considered somehow vacated, allowing them to leave custody until they are acquitted or convicted again?

From what I see on TV, I think they stay in prison, but I don't know for sure.

They could have applied for bail pending appeal. It looks like they didn't or if they did, it was denied.

How nice would it be to work in a field where you can make a serious error and the end result is more billable hours??

I wonder if this means the tables are turning for the 3rd guy in the situation (Garrett) that never saw any jail time.

The judge is the one who made the error. The judge has no billable hours.
