Default What changes would you employ for next game?

I would bring in Freddie to inject some enthusiasm. I would put Ferland up with Johnny and Monny, I would scratch Versteeg and maybe Bennett as well. I guess swap Wideman with Kulak or Engelland to see if he can score another PP goal.

I'm OK with Wideman coming in. And Freddie instead of Versteeg seems OK to me too. Maybe sneak Johnson in for another start, giving him two of the next three (give Elliott one of the upcoming back to back games) and then reassess the rotation after that.

I would send Cameron to the press box and bring Gelly down for a game or two

I would put these lines together:

Gaudreau - Bennett - Brouwer
Tkachuk - Monahan - Frolik
Bouma - Backlund - Ferland
Stajan - Hamilton - Chiasson

Jokipakka - Hamilton
Kulak - Brodie
Giordano - Engelland

PP Unit 1:
Gaudreau - Backlund - Bennett
Brouwer - Hamilton

PP Unit 2:
Frolik - Monahan - Tkachuk
Kulak - Giordano

PK Unit 1:
Backlund - Frolik
Giordano - Engelland

PK Unit 2:
Monahan - Brouwer
Jokipakka - Hamilton

And I would not waver. I'd play those lines all game. I wouldn't panic and throw the lines into a blender and hope for the best.

Can we stuff the puck into a t-shirt cannon and shoot it into the net?

We should be allowed to do that. It should be an option. Decline the powerplay in exchange for firing the puck out of an air-cannon.

I'd try these lines

Gaudreau-Monahan-Tkachuk
Ferland-Bennett-Brouwer
Bouma-Backlund-Frolik
Versteeg-Stajan-Chiasson

Just to try something different. Keep the main pairings on each of the lines and shuffle the other three players around (Tkachuk/Ferland/Versteeg)

I'd play the FBI line. I feel like you deserve it and CP would find it entertaining!

Step 1: Fire Cameron

Step 2:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Brouwer
Ferland-Stajan-Chiasson (soft minutes, o-zone starts)
Tkachuk-Bennett-Versteeg (soft minutes)
Bouma-Backlund-Frolik (shutdown, d-zone starts)

use the depth on forward. every line can attack

Gio-Brodie
Jokipakka-Hamilton
Kulak-Engelland

same old. practice defensive zone coverage. urge the good d-men to lead the rush. skate the puck out and into their zone

Elliott

back on the horse. he's better than hes shown so far

adjust PP zone entries somehow

there is a good team here.

Hah, not sure my guys would be great on the same line but if so I think janko would have to be the center so it would be the FIB line.

I wouldn't change anything. I'm being dead serious.

The worst thing you can do as players are getting used to a new system, a new coach, and new teammates is to mix everything up constantly. Put the lines together you think will work best and keep them together. This is about being comfortable on the ice, and the more you switch up d partners and wingers, the harder it is to get comfortable and have any flow.

If a guy is legitimately underperforming, bench him, but other than that, do nothing and let them build some team chemistry.

Far too many overreaction threads lately. Every team is going to go through a 1-3-1 stretch at some point this year. It just looks worse when you start that way against teams you expect to beat.

TL/DR: This team just needs time. They're not going to win a cup this year, but they're a helluva lot better than this.

if we give it a month and it stays the same the seasons over. At least last year we saw spurts of dominance from this team at this time even though our defense was attrocious but this year its nothing.
