If we finish bottom six again I think it may be time to take a page out of the Oilers book sadly and move on from some of the young guys. We made fun of the Oilers for hanging on to some of their young players for too long. We may have to do a similar swap to get the culture where we want it if there's already a country club at their age.
It's not easy trading guys with a ton of potential but sometimes its necessary to get peices that fit better. I'm starting to wonder if be weisbrod and feaster weren't idiots after all. It's like the team has been going down hill since they left. Not that I dislike the team on paper but I feel they have underperformed this year and last with what they have.
First thing though Is to get an expierenced coach I feel GG is a step down from Hartley.
Wow man. 5 games.
Trade Monahan and Johnny? FIVE GAMES MAN!
This board has so many members who have already given up hope and need to pump the brakes a little.
Has the start sucked? Absolutely. Is it frustrating as balls as a fan? We all share the pain. Concerning that the whole team seems unprepared for an NHL season? Of course.
Do we just give up as fans? Start talking about trading young players, that our veterans are bums? Fire the coach, yearn for a GM/Coach of yesteryear who did actually suck? No.
Times are tuff. But they will get better. Have some hope and don't be so damn gloomy.
CP needs a little Samwise The Brave.

It may just be me, but every time the camera pans to GG on the bench, he always looks completely lost/dumbfounded as to what is going on.
I always made fun of that constant look of disbelief on Eakins face too...

Which was basically Hartley last year too. Some people have some pretty short memories
He did win 11 straight games at home last year to set a new franchise record. People seem to think the team was awful for the entire season last year, and its not really true.

As bad as the Flames have looked to start this season, they looked absolutely hopeless through all of October last year. Hartley was doing nothing for this team.
I think people are forgetting not just how badly we started last season, but how bad the team actually looked in those games.

The power play killed us last year, other than that I liked the up tempo "system". Hartley probably should have gone with Ramo/Ortio when it became obvious Hiller's career was over. I still enjoyed almost every game.
This year, nothing looks good. The games are boring and frustrating to watch. All these dynamic players didn't forget how to play hockey. Good coaches design a system around the team's talents. Bad coaches think there is one system that all players need to adhere to. The latter is why Brent Sutter is a bad NHL coach. The jury is still out on Glen Gulutzan, but right now it's not looking good.
Yeah, sorry Nik. I know you want to defend Gulutzan, and that is fair, but you're dead wrong on this point.
I actually don't want to defend Gultazan really, I just don't think people who say they want Hartley back are remembering last season well at all. After every goal (warning: exaggeration) Hartley looked like he just survived a wartime artillery barrage. Just staring off into space with no clue.
Ashasx example was very very common last year.
I'm very glad he's not our coach anymore, but that doesn't mean GG is the answer or better.

So far Hartley was definitely better than Gulutzan. That said, it's still insanely early to be making these conclusions. The players seem so disconnected though. It's tough to see how they right the ship in time. This system looks like it'll be figured out by January which will be too late.
From what I've seen of it in exhibition and small sample size of the season it is a boring system that does not let the skill and creativity of players show through. Guaranteed to empty the stands and reduce TV ratings.

I always thought he looked more like he was seething with anger and was plotting a murder like in the picture Ashasz posted. You can always feel the hate with that look.
