Gaudreau has been hot garbage all season. He appears to be happy to coast and make dumb decisions now that he's locked in. I don't actually think that has anything to do with it, but I'm not seeing this hating to lose you speak of.

Agreed. Him and Mony are trying just not getting anywhere. You can see their frustration. Bleh.

Gaudreau had a vintage goal tonight...and Mony had the tying goal on his stick and just missed the net

The only won cause Cam Ward gave them the game, and they still are "no good", no matter what you oiler fans say

Two years ago we were all praising Giordano for his leadership and bringing about a culture shift in the team. WHat the hell happened?

Well, I just got back from the 'Dome. What an atrocious game. I've never been so bored at the arena in my life. Say what you want about Bob Hartley's systems, but at least he had some. Glen Gulutzan's Flames appear to be under some sort of "every man for himself"-type trance. There's no cohesion or chemistry whatsoever. The Flames had absolutely zero 2-on-1 chances, and the few 3-on-2s which they could potentially have developed into scoring chances were always broken up at the blueline by a poor pass or good defensive stick. I see no future in these Flames until whoever is in charge of their offensive and special teams "systems" is gone.
The Pocket Dawg was disgusting. I typically enjoy them but this one was heinously awful. The Nachos were well-cheese-ified. The malt was delicious, as always. The Coke Zero was Coke Zero.

5 more games of this and we could legit be out of it by mid November. I can't remember the stats, but I believe teams 5 points back or something by the end of Novemeber have next to no chance of making the playoffs now with the parity.
Very Oileresque at this point. There's reason for concern.

Or it could be that his system isn't very effective, and doesn't fit with the roster he has.

Effort isn't really my issue right now, it's making stupid plays. His timing looks off but he's showing signs of coming around.
Bennett is playing like he just had a lobotomy.

Well, that was a frustrating game to be at and watch.
The Flames seemed like they were half asleep, or just didn't care. No effort to get the puck, no effort to keep the puck. Passes seemed to be blindly thrown out, or even just straight up sent to the other team.
The bright spot was watching Johnny...it was almost like you could see someone pressing the "turbo skate" or "do something fancy" buttons.

The lack of preparation as an organization for the start of the season has been nothing but a complete and utter disaster. After the debacle of an October a year ago, for this to continue again this year is completely unacceptable.
There is no cohesion among any of the lines and it's like they are all still trying to get to know each other like it's the first game of the preseason.
Now they have 3 games against easier teams and 12 against tough teams before the quarter mark. In order to realistically be in contention for a playoff spot, they need to have 22-24 points at a minimum by then. We have 3. So we need 19-22 out of 30 points against mostly elite teams. With how they are playing, like hell that will happen. I would not be shocked if by the middle of November, the Flames are already looking towards the Nolan Patrick sweepstakes if this is how they continue to play.
Absolutely pathetic effort by everyone involved except Elliott. He was the only one trying tonight. Nothing you can do when the 18 skaters in front of you forget how to play hockey.

I don't see him coasting with the puck all that much, more so without the puck, because he's waiting for a pass. The dumb decisions I think are due to his frustration with his teammates not executing. I see him spitting nails on the bench when the team is down or when things aren't going well. I look at the other player's faces, and it seems like its more of a blank stare.

Game 1:We sucked but first game of the year and Grossman Yadayada
Game 2: no good but shakey goaltending and a million breakaways against.
Game 3: Baby steps... getting better I guess.
Game 4: K maybe we are on to something here.
Game 5: Brutal. WTF...
Ugh

I totally agree, I think hiring Cameron as an assistant was the biggest mistake. I also noticed that the players look lost on the ice, quite a few of them try to go 1 on 3 or 4. Sent Cameron to the press box already.

I would blame Burke and Treliving for that, not Guelatzen. I personally liked the team direction under Feaster, with the exception of the O'Reilly drama.
