Any particular reason? Just because he's good on the Jets doesn't mean he'll excel elsewhere.

Because he's better defensively (not really close) and just as good offensively and I have watched him lots. Doesn't take as many games off as Monahan either and is pretty consistent.

Scheifele has been getting better every season he's been in this league. Monahan hasn't really progressed since his 2nd season.

Scheifele is now probably a better scorer than Monahan, and their possession numbers aren't even close.

Winnipeg comes back from 4-0 and ties it in the final minute off a Laine goal.

You make it sound as though Monahan is a grizzled veteran who flatlined years ago. Monahan has outpaced Scheifele every one of his three NHL seasons and he is a full year younger. It seems to be highly premature to make declarations about their relative long term value.

Man if only the Jets had a decent coach. Their forward depth is very impressive.

Crazy - so now not even a week into the season Laine has a hat trick and Matthews has a 4 goal night.

What the hell was Anderson doing on that game tying goal though, way too aggressive and out of his crease leaving a wide open net for the one timer.

No you are correct. Monahan probably hasn't stopped developing.

With that said, Scheifele's development over the last 2 years has seemed to me to be more promising than what I've seen from Monahan. At least, it's been more linear. Maybe Monahan jumps up here in a couple games, maybe next season. He is younger, but I'm not sure there is one thing Monahan does better than Scheifele right now.

The stinkin' Leafs get burned in the 3rd period, LOL. That was an impressive come back and what a way to win in overtime just after Matthews is stopped on a break away.

Wow! It is nights like tonight that I love the NHL.
Two entertaining games! Detroit shuts the rangers down in a close one.
Switch to the Jets vs Leafs in time to catch the completion of the come back.
Two great games.

Howard was awesome in net for the Red Wings as he faced 33 shots and can thank a few posts for helping. Lundqvist was at fault for the winning goal as he went behind his net, Miller scored the goal just a minute into the third period.
