I would like to think making the World Series was the real motivator today and not shutting Jose up, but it just makes it that much sweeter for them to shut him up. I doubt he eats the humble pie after this, but maybe he'll finally learn.

It's a shame the amount of #### that gets piled on Bautista. The guy has been an awesome Blue Jay.
Meh..you're totally right about his tenure as a great Jay and I've always liked him, but IMO he brings on the criticism from opposing players/fans himself. Very grumpy, argumentative, rather bitter guy. Put him on the Rangers all this time and I bet we'd hate him.

So, what kind of salary do we expect Rogers to spend on the Jays payroll next season?
From looking around it appears they already have about $120 million committed to next seasons team and that doesn't count all the unsigned arbitration eligble and pre-arbitration eligible guys like Sanchez, Osuna, Stroman, Travis and Pillar.
That $12 million does include a team option on Grilli if they don't do that it's 250k to buy him out.
I cant stand Bautista sometimes. He was the only reason to watch the team for a long time. He is a Jays legend. But while his crap was way more tolerable when he was an elite player.. its just getting annoying now. His play has seriously dropped off and he's just become a sideshow.
What do you guys think about keeping Edwin?
I'd like to see us build around Donaldson, go after some pitching help and find a lefty to balance our rotation. We're surprisingly easy to pitch against.
I wouldnt mind seeing Edwin back but I wouldn't be too sad if he goes to Boston to 'replace' Ortiz.

I hope they bring EE back too.
I assume you mean left handed bats, because the rotation looks already set and it has two lefty's already with Happ and Liriano.
Yes left handed bats and just good hitters in general. I was pretty shocked down the stretch by the fact we have a very HR oriented group of hitters who are really only looking to hit a homer every single time. I'd like to see more consistent hitters with more technique. Even if we sacrifice power.
As far as pitching I think we could go after 2-3 bull pen arms.
I'd like to see us use the Dickey/Jose/Edwin(?) money on really improving the club overall rather than just signing 1-2 big name guys like Votto. Would be good to see 4-5 good signings over a few big name ones.

He deserves every ounce of criticism. He played like garbage and decided to say something stupid but no surprise as he's one of the most selfish players I've ever watched.
I hope that was the last game I had to see him pout about a close strike call. Whiniest player in the league. Honestly I hate hating players on my Favorite team but I had to try really hard just to cheer for him. Least favorite Blue Jay ever and it's not even close.
frustrating day to finish an often frustrating season
but also a very exciting and enjoyable season most of the time
back to back ALCS appearances is pretty impressive, and beats the hell out of watching the Yankees in the post season yet again
should be an interesting off-season: bye bye Bautista; I am 50/50 on EE - I only want him back on a team-friendly, DH contract; need some bats and, as always, need some bullpen help

Like theAlpineOricale I've become much more optimistic about next season after this season's pitching. To have them all back pretty much makes us a threat on it's own.
I've also decided to mostly can the "rogers is cheap" stuff, if only because it's been beaten to death on here, but I've also just accepted that we're not going to be Yankees and Red Sox style spenders. So I can either accept that and cheer for the team as is or stop following. I'd rather follow.
The only thing that does legitimately scare me a little (and this is a valid, albeit minor concern, not a general shot at Rogers) is how much they've lost with this new hockey deal. The bluejays are their saving grace, but in a world of shareholders I do wonder if our GM and president may get the call that even their standard budget has been tightened.
