We actually have the same amount of hits as Cleveland in this series, yet are down 3 games. Despite all of our ugly at bats, our biggest problem is that we haven't come up with any timely hits, while Cleveland has.
That's been the story the whole season. NOTHING has changed. No hits with two outs and no hits with RISP. The whole season. It's again catching up to them at worst time.

It seems like the Jays aren't very good at making adjustments to different pitching styles. They were off in game 1 and Francona saw it early and was smart enough to not allow them to get back on top of it. He has continued to do so since. At the first sign of trouble or if a much favorable match up is available, he doesnt hestitate to switch it up. Starting early in games at that.
As well the team simply takes way way to many home run swings when the situation calls for just making contact. That has led to all the strike outs.
This is the second year in a row that this club is getting schooled by a good bullpen. It obviously doesnt help that both Martin and Pillar have been ice cold and looking lost for the most part when in the batters box. That has started to trickle down as well to Bautista as well as EE to a degree.
The Royals owned this club last year with pitching but mostly with the bullpen. Its a mirror image of last year but worse.

I'm calling it now...Sanchez no hits Cleveland thru 9, blows out his arm in the 10th, Osuna comes in strikes out the side, can't lift his arm in between innings, Grilli gives up a solo in the 11th, game over, season over, jays shutout again.

Hats off to the Indians for taking advantage of what's been given. For the Jays, untimely hitting, just missing a couple mistakes from the CLE pitchers in all 3 games, given that the Jays have outhit (or is it tied?) the hits of the Indians this series. Also, a bounce here or there tonight (I say this to infuriate all those who are pro scouts here in the GT - but Bautista catches that in the first, Crisp say drops the liner late in the game, and it's a tie game) and that game goes a different way despite everything else.
Will enjoy Jays playoff baseball for as long as possible. Baseball playoffs are the hardest to make, so to get this far is something to be happy about...and I'd be very surprised if we see it next year with all the changes Shapiro will be making.

The one thing that keeps me a little hopeful, besides the fact that there are still games to be played, is that it's Cleveland. Ya ya they won the NBA title last season, but still, this is Cleveland. They're still the Indians. They still have the Browns in that city. The city is etched in everyones memories for playoff futility.
They blew a 3-1 lead against the Red Sox in '07.
They blew a 9th inning lead in game 7 of the '97 World Series.
They're the Cleveland Indians. They're losers.

Yeah but they're playing a team from Toronto.
Toronto sports teams were created to break my heart.
