This keeps up for another handful of games and we may dig ourselves a hole that as years past have shown to be near impossible to climb out of. They really have to figure this out asap since they didn't feel the need in the preseason.

*Not doom and gloom yet, but if we are still saying this 10 games in it very well could be.
I have no issue with Hartley being let go as the team was not going to be a consistently good team playing his system. The issue at hand is that I don't know if Treliving hired a better coach to replace him. If the Wild have a really good season this year there has to be questions asked of why the Flames went out of their way not to even interview a head coach with a top 5 winning percentage.

Tkachuk has been a positive but not sure I want us to burn a year of his ELC this season. This team doesn't justify it.

Well let's see two games in and we have inferior goaltending to last year. Defense is even worse and that my friend takes some doing. Top line is extremely well paid and completely outplayed by the Oilers top line. Our coach has his team unprepared and uninspired with no apparent system other than give up the puck all over the ice. The goalie leaves one longing for the team to contact Ramo because he can't make a save when they need one.

Season began with optimism about new coaching and new system / so far total failure. Hope for at least average goaltending / so far not one iota better and likely worse.

We got nothing.

Our only hope is that the coach and goalie get their act together. The top line gets rolling and the team looks like it cares about winning.

The only one I have faith in at the moment(only two games) is that the top line will get it together.

Much more of this and I'll just go back to not caring about hockey and doing other things like I did all summer.

Just brutal. Off to another fabulous start to the season again.
12 goals against and 0 points to a rival and they now have to go to Vancouver for their home opener tomorrow night.

Not sure what this system Gulutzan is trying to implement but FFS, can we stop giving up so many breakaways?

Yes it's only 2 games but we go through this year after year. I'm sick of playing catch up after terrible starts to the season.
Would ownership be okay to pay a guy that much to watch from the sidelines?

Bennett needs to hit the #### suckin net when he shoots. That's a problem.

Guys. The team isn't this bad. This is 95% of the roster we had last season. And even that roster wasn't this bad. They can only get better. It stings but this is rock bottom for the group, whereas this is the highest Edmonton has been in years, and it's nothing to really gloat about. Hiccups happen. Unfortunately we had to have a slow start begin against our biggest rivals.

Honestly they did nothing other than on BS power plays and breakaways by the suppose Creator of all things. We have been the better team over two games. Having said that Wideman needs to get booted to the moon. Thanks for your service. See ya.

At some point we may need to acknowledge that the Flames terrible GAA isn't all on the goalies. And that at least three of our regular d-men are bad defensively. Hamilton does not look like a top-3 defenceman without the puck.

If the defence tomorrow isn't

Giordano/Brodie
Jokipakka/Hamilton
Kulak/Engelland

Or some variation of those 6, I'm gonna be pissed.

There were going to be some bumps in the road going from the Hitchcock coached St.Louis Blues to the Bob Hartley Flames.

The positives are that next year Brandon Hickey should be on the team?

We look horrible. Bad systems. Bad effort. And sloppy play.

I don't get the lack of improvement so far in 3 areas that needed improvement from last season:

Powerplay going 0 Fer and giving up a short handed goal
Penalty kill giving up easy chances and more goals
Goaltending looking suspect and shaky

So I get the concept of overall team defense and maybe this team understands it in principle, but they have not executed in the preseason or against the Oil in 2 that count in the standings.

Kylington would make mistakes that lead to many breakaways, yet he'd be fast enough to stop many of them.

I hope he continues to develop well.

At least Bennett and Jokipakka were trying...
Two players get a pass right now: Frolik and Backlund. I liked the effort from Bennett but it was too selfish and he just lost the puck. He also needs to hit the net with his shots.
Also, gtfo Wideman.

This team bought out Raymond and not Wideman. Keep Raymond instead of Versteeg, buy out Wideman and sign Rissell. Would this team be better?
