Oh shoot, I'm sorry. The images are about 50 KB each but yeah I'll do that for sure.

When I saw the opening schedule I initially looked at the Flames starting out 0-3 and Wednesday's game did nothing to sway me so I'm sticking with it. I'm certainly expecting a better effort tonight I feel the team will still lose as it's going to take a week of games and practice for the lineup to gel and they got a bad draw facing rival teams at typically their most vulnerable time of the season.

Apparently the Oilers may be looking for Tkachuk.

Can we have Lanny and Pepper skate around before the game and interview all the players from 89?

Will GG match up Monahan against McDavid when he has the last change? Would think that he would be trying to get Backlund's line out against McDavid.

Won't help; images are downloaded to your device even if spoilered. Reducing the file size (which imo is already low enough) is the only real option, or omitting them entirely.

That didn't work out that great last time. So I would say no. The Oilers don't really have a typical defensive 3rd line, so they matched power with power and it worked for them. Now that the Flames have last change I think they will try to get Johnny some easy match-ups.

What I want to see is GG aggressively try to match lines (or at least D pairings against forwards) that he thinks will work, whether we agree or not. The big complaint about Desjardins was a desire to roll 4 lines when it was obviously not working. I'm hoping GG is different from his mentor.

I seriously doubt we try to put Monahan up against McDavid. Wouldnt be smart.

Something tells me tonight will be Matthew Tkachuk's coming out party in the NHL. I think the game will be a physical low scoring one. We've got a huge, more talented version of Brendan Gallagher and I couldnt be happier with his debut the other day. He's already very hated after 1 game and I'm sure they will be going after him. Little do they know he absolutely thrives in games like that. I can see him being at the heart of this game, I just hope the tough guys on our team (Engelland, Bouma, Ferland) ensure he is able to play his game without any fear of having to personally answer to some goon.

We have a forward group that can actually be very physical. Ferland, Brouwer, Bouma, Bennett, Tkachuk all can throw hits and be super hard to play against. I'd love to see us really go after the Oilers in that way.

On another note...I already dislike GG. He seems to be trying to do too much. I'm going to give him a lot more time before I declare him a crappy coach obviously...but its not a good start. I have a feeling he's changed too much and his hockey philosophy may be getting in the way of him evaluating the team and using them to the best of their ability, IE putting them all in the best position to succeed rather than drilling them with a strategy he thinks is advantageous. But obviously it is way way too early to know.

Yeah, but we're also assuming that Wideman and Engelland are the third pairing. Wait until Gulutzan plays Wideman for 25 minutes again.

Reading about Corey Perry last night and the little prick he is, anyone think Tkachuk could be as talented and we have the next Perry on our hands?

I don't think it is right to characterize Desjardins as Gulutzen's "mentor." Before Desjardins was ever a NHL head coach he was one of Gulutzen's assistants in Dallas.

Definitely, he's got the talent, aggression, and pedigree.

I can easily see Tkachuk hitting around a 70 point average while being a complete pest to other teams.

At least Gulutzan learned from his mistakes last game and fixed those D pairings. Now it's a matter of proper line matching, and the first order of business should be Backlund lining up against McDavid every shift.

Last year, Hartley put Bennett out against McDavid a few times and it really worked well. Bennett knows him as well as anyone and is highly motivated when competing against him.

If Bennett's line were to play McDavid's to a draw, and Backlund shut down RNH's line, SeanJohn would have a field day against the 3rd line.

Was that Bennett w/ Backlund & Frolik though?
