To be fair, that is an apples and organges comparison as well.
The CFR is a rodeo only, while Stampede attendance includes the exhibition.
I also believe the Stampede runs longer than the CFR as well.

All I can get

The CFR doesn't have the wold-famous Young Canadians.
Quote:
|
Over the years, the Young Canadians have performed with many famous people such as Bill Cosby, Lorne Green, Arte Johnson, Rich Little, Roy Rogers, Jerry Reed, Tommy Hunter, Andre-Philippe Gagnon and most recently stars from The Cirque du Soleil and have been featured in events such as the half-time show for the Grey Cup. In 1996 a special performance of the Grandstand Show was presented during the Rotary International Convention, introducing the Young Canadians to an enthusiastic audience from 177 countries.
|
The Young Canadians greatly enrich Calgarians' cultural scene. They're every bit as good as The Cirque du Soleil. I mean, they've performed for Rotarians fer chrissakes!!!

Central/Southern USA? Ever been to the Stampede and counted all the Texas license plates?

K, I've lived in Calgary for 15 plus years, and I've gone to the Stampede probably 5 times in that span. I guess working at it one year really turned me off from it, and only last year have I gone back since. And I've noticed nothing different from when I worked there 10 years ago. I have no idea why so many people go. It's the same freaking thing year after year after year.
With that said though, I'll admit that people all over the world do come. Having worked at a hotel for 2 years, you don't realize how popular the Stampede is until you realize every hotel in the city plus surrounding towns, and all the way up to Red Deer are usually booked solid during Stampede Week for people attending the Stampede. Trust me, hotels make a killing during that week and a half.
And when asked, most people seem impressed by it. Again, I have no idea why. I'd personally rather go to Disney World.

When you live here, it doesnt seem as special because you are always near it.
As an example: think about the last time you looked west on a clear day and marveled at the rocky mountains. I know more than a couple people in Tampa who saw a shot of the Saddledome and downtown Calgary with the mountains in the background during the Stanley Cup finals previews who looked at that and thought Calgary was an amazing place to be.

In that case, CFR in Edmonton attracts people all over the world.
Guess Saskatchewan, Alberta, and eastern BC, along with Montana and North Dakota consist of all over the world
|
you're pathetic. Do you have nothing better to do than come on a calgary website and spew your hatred. People come in from all over the world for the Stampede. They interview people from Europe, US and Australia at the Parade every year.
The CFR is barely a shadow compared to the Stampede Rodeo. There is a reason the Stampede rodeo has the largest purses in the sport. But thank you for bringing up another event in Edmonton that can't even be compared to its big brother on the world stage.

A four day pass is one ticket. You can buy them at most seven elevens in Florida... I'm not sure about LA.
|
Do you know that for sure? I don't and I said I didn't in my posts. I would guess that they count attendance as the number of people that visit the site everyday. Probably similar to how they count the people to Stampede. Some people buy tickets, never go. They do not get counted as people who attended.

TWO disney parks.... Did you read that part? O wait... thats a stupid question. If you did you wouldn't have said something so moronic.
|
First of all...according to you there are 5 parks in USA....6 if you included California world...or what ever it is called. Regardless of what that quote said...I stated numberous times that I was only talking about Disneyland CA....to which I posted the numbers.
Quote:
|
Yes alot of people go there, but putting it on par with Disney World/Land is just stupid. Chinook center is more comparable. 42 million people go to the amusement parks each year. Thats double all of your West Ed numbers.
|
I understand what you are saying. What I have been saying for the whole thread is WEM puts up (according to the data of more than 4 sources) numbers that rival Disney Land in CA. I am saying, that is pretty impressive, especially since a lot of people on this site claim that no one knows about WEM. Thats all I am saying and that is all I have been saying. I never said WEM is a magical wonderland that is the best place in the entire world or country. I was just saying it is not as bad as some people have been claiming it to be.

Why do you have such strong opinions when you're so uninformed? All you do is google the topic. You're just talking out of your ass and digging yourself deeper. From what I've noticed about your posts on this forum this isn't the first time. You seem to have an opinion on every possible topic yet there no way you can be fully informed on all of them.
|
So un-informed? I have presented my opinion with data to illustrate why I think it is compareable to the attendance levels of Disneyland CA. Depending on what numbers you believe, it is close to if not more than the attendance at Disneyland. How is that un-informed? Am I an expert in this discussion?....no....nor have I claimed to be......
As for having an opinion on every topic.....not even close......not even close to half of the people on this site.....because you don't agree with me then I my opinion doesn't count or I am some bimbo who buds in on every discussion.

At least most of your posts are in the off topic forum so the rest of us don't need to put up with you on the Flames board.
|
|
Put up with me? Give me a break....it's more like I have to put up with people who don't respect others opinions....I disagree with a lot of people on this site, and that makes me an easy target....but unless they start attacking me....I am pretty respectful back.
But if I am such a bad person to listen to or discuss topics with then fine.

A very lonely and desperate human being. A pure disgrace to the usually good people of Edmonton. Anyone who goes to sites like this and posts when they aren't fans, are pure trolls. I have never been to Oilfans because it is Oilers fans talking oilers hockey. They don't want to hear from a flames fan. Sundeep and company are nothing but lonely trolls who can't venture far enough out of Millwoods to realize there is life beyond the boundaries of Edmonton. He needs to go back to Oilfans where some might care what he has to say.

He's tried that more than a couple times. He's signed on under 9 different alias's because someone kept busting him, and he hadn't gotten a new IP address yet.
Now he's free and clear for a little bit. Joy oh joy.

The most "grass is greener in Edmonton" as Marc said, will fight tooth and nail for how great Edmonton's bake sales and trees are... not to mention his famous "Edmonton has more percipatation then Calgary" to show his true penis-sizing insecurities... gets shot down even by Edmontonians and Oiler fans on his own board, and even his own kin thinks he's a loser.

I LOVE these quotes
20 million people annually and international tourists care about that mall.
At one time, we even had the Hard Rock Cafe....
Face it - people love and know about the Mall.
Perhaps you buy froot-of-the-loom t-shirts, that's why you don't like the mall? (Dipstick really loves his fashion... started going metrosexual on me a couple pages ago on his Fcuk clothes)
Submarine Rides, World's largest Indoor Waterpark, Canada's fastest Go Karts, 1 million dollar acquired Sea Lions, Hotel, soon to be a 7000-10,000 seat arena, nearly 1000 shops and restaurants (you go shopping right? Tons of designer clothes to select from, FCUK (does Calgary have that?), Skating rink, Fantasyland hotel, World's largest Indoor Amusement park, and I could go on and on and on.)
The CFR also draws thousands of American tourists.

I don't know if you seen the thread on Oilfans.com, but Sundeep started poking fun at the fashion in Calgary. He started naming off a couple trendy clothing designers and to top it off he threw in a "you know how etown does it". Yes, Edmonton is right on track with France, and Italy for fashion.
