And swedens the last place we should take an example from. I've never heard of anyone moving to Sweden for the economic prosperity. Have you?

Alberta doesn't need to have high taxes. But having a tax rate far lower than anywhere else in Canada, while expecting the same level of public services - or better - than elsewhere in the country was always delusional folly supported only by energy royalty windfalls.
Before the last election, if Alberta had adopted the tax regime of the next lowest taxed province (Saskatchewan), it could have balanced the budget. The dogmatic mantra of lower taxes lower taxes is no less ideological claptrap than the NDPs mantra of making corporations and the rich pay.
Everyone in Alberta is going to have to pay more and get less now that energy royalties aren't massively subsidizing the operation of our schools, roads, and hospitals.
|
The reason for that 'Dogmatic Mantra' is because its the only weapon left against the equally Dogmatic Mantra of 'Tax the Rich! Raise Taxes! New Taxes! More Taxes!"
These are the battle cries of two extremes pushing in opposite directions because when people let themselves be blinded by ideology rather than sitting down and rationally thinking the problem through they cant be reasoned with.
So we have a sitting Government effectively trying to 'Tax their way' out of their current predicament, pretty literally 'dig up stupid!'
Leaving people opposed to this shortsighted and bone-headed strategy little alternative but to try and kill the flames by attacking their fuel.
Put simply, I wouldnt trust Notley or Ceci with my spare change.

Yes, please. I vaguely remember she was on TV, but have no knowledge about her at all. Anything, good or bad, would be helpful.

I have no idea if she's worse Redford but she is her BFF, it'd be like Redford version 2.0 all over again with the same entitled attitude. I think Redford got her started in politics actually as a communications advisor.
If she does get elected as leader it makes my decision who to vote for in 2019 pretty easy, it'll be down to the Wildrose.

The more important question is whether Jansen is better or worse than Kenney.

How many people do you know who have moved to any non-English country for work?
Swedes have an extremely high quality of life. Very low poverty and crime. There's a reason most Swedes in the NHL return their to raise their families. I'll turn around and ask you how many Swedes you've met who have moved away from Sweden for a better life.

She started as a communications intern with Ron Ghitter.
She's a centrist alternative to the simplistic ideologues on both the left and right. Maybe Alberta has become so polarized that there is no centre anymore. I'd like to think that's not the case.

Way worst.
What problem to people have with Jason Kenney?
As people really that naive to think that Kenney is going to somehow change abortion or SSM laws from the PROVINCIAL legislature after he had a chance to do so for 10 years in the Federal Government?
I don't get it. I really don't.
Jason Kenney is the last hope we have. And if you are to believe like I do, that Justin Trudeau will win another majority in 2019 and likely in 2023 then having a strong conservative in Edmonton is exactly what we need.
I can't believe how short sighted people have become. There is some serious stuff at steak here. Let'g get over bathrooms and Israel and things that don't affect day to day life in Alberta.
/end rant
PS, Sandra Jansen is not a conservative. She is a Redford lackey. May as well vote for Notley.

Jansen should be running for leader of the merged Liberal and Alberta Party.

“Innovation” was somewhat of a buzzword at the Thursday morning announcement, with Economic Development and Trade Minister Deron Bilous and co-chair Jeanette Patell both pointing to it as the way the energy industry can realize its full potential.
“The energy industry has changed a lot in the last two years, and we’re at the perfect time to look at other opportunities,” McCuaig-Boyd said.
“We can’t live in what was in the past, we need to go forward and get our industry in the best shape and looking to the future of our energy industry.”

If not, you have now.

With the number of union people that are occupying key roles in the committee and advisory roles with cabinet members, its becoming pretty clear that this is a corny government and fairly corrupt.

"Unite the right is a slogan, it's not a plan for the future," Jansen said in an interview with CBC.
In her news release, Jansen said party members voted overwhelmingly in May to rebuild the party.
"They wanted us to work on regaining the trust of Albertans so that we can deliver the pragmatic, centrist government that they deserve.
"They don't want us fixated on the fastest ways back to power, and they don't want us to ignore our principles simply to defeat the NDP."

Politics is a business. Your voter base are your shareholders.
Just like corporations are there to make a profit, political parties are in business to win elections.
If the PC/WRP guys can't figure this out, they should get out of politics.
I have steam coming out of my ears.
