If Calgary does well to start the season the pressure will be on Gaudreau to come down. Hopefully the opposite isn't the case but having this player sit out may actually destroy the season.

I can't see the Flames would have told him anything during this that they went back on. They would have an offer on the table and it seems odd they'd make any kind of statement about altering it and going back on it.

I'm going to guess Gross told Gaudreau not to worry that it would get done / it wouldn't come to this, and that's the nature of his tweet.

Is there anything stopping Gaudreau from dumping his agent right before all the hard negotiations are done and thus compensating his agent $0? Obviously a dyck move but likely forgotten in 8 years when his next deal is in need of negotiation... He'd save what? 5-10% his agent would get? One would think there is compensation up to this point if they cut him before he signs a deal? Anyone know?
