I said that too. Those two things can exist at the same time. Her smile looking smug and Trump being his typical dumb self.

Heh. I was kidding I edited it because I didn't see the "too" part originally so my lame joke became weak.

I do think that would have been a great line of attack. But at the same time, the exchange they did have on this was a tactical loss for Trump. Why? Because the question that was asked was about the wikileaks quote. He should have been ready to absolutely hammer her on it, but as predictable as a clock, someone mentions his ties to Russia and he goes off the rails and spends his full two minutes talking about his lack of ties to Russia, then his balance sheet and his taxes. Anderson Cooper moves on to another question and Clinton probably smiles that she dodged a potential bullet there.

I'd just like to point out, that in our own fair city, this is what a Trump building looks like.

What an awful bunch of human beings that camp is:
Trump’s debate plan to seat Bill Clinton’s accusers in family box was thwarted
Quote:
The gambit to give Bill Clinton’s accusers prime seats was devised by Trump campaign chief executive Stephen K. Bannon and Jared Kushner, the candidate’s son-in-law, and approved personally by Trump.
The four women — three of whom have alleged Bill Clinton sexually assaulted or harassed them years ago — were to walk in the debate hall at the same time as the 42nd president and confront him in front of a national television audience.
“We were going to put the four women in the VIP box,” said former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who represents Trump in debate negotiations. “We had it all set. We wanted to have them shake hands with Bill, to see if Bill would shake hands with them.”

Wow...
"Expect Team Trump to keep hounding Clinton for her husband's long-ago behavior, I'm told. His strategists gleefully believe it rattled her."

Based on what I'm not really sure...
She also says Paula Jones and Juanita Broaddrick did the spin room swing for Trump, not him or his kids.
Cmon Kellyanne, quit. It's not to late, there's good in you, I've felt it.

Paul Ryan should absolutely pull his endorsement and so should the Republican party, not for any other reason but because of the threat of jailing one's political opponent. He is at this point clearly a terrifying figure. Podesta downplayed it as just another over the top statement; typical Trump. It is not. It is clearly in contention for the worst thing he's said or done since the start of his campaign (in a strong field) and worse than the video. Absolutely unbelievable.

Poor Kellyanne, has no soul to quit even though she isn't even running things anymore, just a mouthpiece. If we do see a Pence step down at any point, no doubt Rudy is steeping in as VP.
Quote:
Donald Trump’s campaign sought to intimidate Hillary Clinton and embarrass her husband by seating women who have accused former president Bill Clinton of sexual abuse in the Trump family’s box at the presidential debate here Sunday night, according to four people involved in the discussions.
The campaign’s plan, which was closely held and unknown to several of Trump’s top aides, was thwarted just minutes before it could be executed when officials with the Commission on Presidential Debates intervened. The commission officials warned that, if the Trump campaign tried to seat the accusers in the elevated family box, security officers would remove the women, according to the people involved, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the discussions were confidential.
|
Quote:
Frank J. Fahrenkopf, the debate commission’s co-chairman and a former Republican National Committee chairman, caught wind of the plot on Sunday and immediately moved to put an end to it. Fahrenkopf tartly warned a Trump staffer that if the campaign tried to put the four women in the family box, security personnel would remove them, according to people with direct knowledge of the conversations.
“Fahrenkopf said, ‘no’ – verbally said ‘no,’ that ‘security would throw them out,’” Giuliani said.
|
Quote:
Giuliani said Bannon kept pushing to have the women come out until three minutes before the debate began.
“But we pulled it because we were going to have a big incident on national TV,” Giuliani said. “Frank Fahrenkopf stopped us and we weren’t going to have a fight on national TV with the commission to start the debate.”
Bannon declined to comment late Sunday, but his role in coming up with the idea was confirmed by multiple Trump campaign advisers. Senior Clinton campaign officials said they were unaware of the Trump campaign’s plans to try to seat the women in the family box.
Giuliani was highly critical of Fahrenkopf in an interview after the debate Sunday and said the Trump campaign is considering asking for him to step aside before the third and final debate, scheduled for Oct. 19 in Las Vegas.
Giuliani said it was unfair that the commission has allowed Mark Cuban, a billionaire Trump tormenter and Clinton surrogate, to sit in the front row, but would not permit Bill Clinton’s accusers to sit in Trump’s family box.

I get a feeling I'm in the minority here, but I felt Clinton did excellent in this debate, much better than just holding the fort and even better than the first debate. Certainly better than I expected. To me she generally seemed very firm, and managed to keep her answers simple enough for the most part.
In the beginning where she didn't need to be nice, she managed to break out of that admittedly somewhat robotic shell. Trump comes off as someone who's just used to everyone cowering in front of him, and didn't seem to know what to do when she stood up to him. So he did what he does, kept repeating himself expecting to get the reaction he wants, which made him seem really childish. Hillary managed to hit back with the same topics, but sound like she's talking about actual character stuff while Trump sounded like a tabloid journalist.
A competent adult vs. overgrown kid completely out of his depth.
It kind of makes me wonder why the Trump camp (and Scott Adams, LOL) felt Bill's sex life was going to be a problem for Hillary. She's been dealing with those questions for decades now, and it showed. They essentially handed her the home ground advantage.
Trump also seemed to keep forgetting that he needs to talk to the undecided in these debates. He keeps doing fanservice, offering up the short versions of his greatest hits. I'm sure his fans will love it, but that doesn't help him win the election.
I also felt Trump lost the body language competition pretty firmly. I found his constant sideways rocking kind of odd and even slightly unnerving, the sniffling was at times genuinely distracting, and especially at the beginning he kept making faces which was embarrassing.
As a general comment, neither of the two are great at actually appearing like they're talking personally to you or the person asking the question (unlike Obama and Bill). But Trump is a good debate partner for Hillary, he emphasizes her strengths.

So does Trump.
He's going to make the best leader. Tremendous leader. The greatest. People are talking. I'm hearing he's going to make America great again! He's getting guidance in how to run a country from his buddy Putin. It's going to be great, just like how great Russia is.

I don't think the debate changed RNC minds enough. It'll be tricky for Trump to begin with but I don't think he's going to get the ground game resources back he will desperately need.
