The things people decide to worry themselves about and the crazy narratives people take on simply because it validates some preconceived notion they have.
Burke has been in the league as a GM or now President of Hockey Ops for what? Decades? In that time how many players has he "scared" off because of his style or because he's a hot head?
It's the most idiotic concerned I've read since 3 years ago when Burke was offending Gaudreau so badly by calling him short that he almist didn't sign here

Flames posted the video of Treliving answering the question about Johnny's contract status. The positive thing I took out of it was that he didn't suggest that fans should prepare themselves for him not to be playing when the season starts. I feel like if he felt it was very likely the case he wouldn't be playing opening night he would have taken this opportunity to strongly hint at it.

My bad team. I didn't intend for my comment to let Gaudreauvertime take it and spin into more paranoia. My thoughts are that Burke is a huge part of this management and should be in on meetings like these

Here's the thing BT says he has "every confidence" that a deal will be done. That is not something that you say if the negotiations are going bad. This is an important deal for the layer, the team, the nhlpa and the league. It will be done and #13 will be on the ice Wednesday.

None of us really know how much influence Burke has on hockey ops. But his job title is President of Hockey Operations. It would be naive to think that he has no input.
And when this deal gets done it will likely be the richest deal in Calgary sports history. I'm sure it has gone past Treliving, Burke, King and all the way up to ownership.

I dislike what Gaudreauvertime posts as much as anyone but his posts are either defending himself or about Gaudreau. Derailing a thread was when Jiri and I argued about Eric Francis, not Gaudreauvertime posting his terrible posts about Gaudreau's contract negotiations. It's not derailing a thread if it is on topic.
