Drinking has gotten way to expensive
Holy cow I was at the Kilkenny last night after the game and the waitress said they have pints on special so I asked how much it was and she said $5.99 and I turned to her and said "What is the normal price?" and she replied by saying it was 7 something. It has gotten out of control. Just a year ago it was under 5 bucks, but now they are pushing 7 and 8 dollars for watered down crappy beer.
Beer at most places in downtown is $6.50. The days of just going out for a beer have gotten very expensive. I am not sure if I can keep doing it.

Those Irish places can be expensive, you should see the price at the Joyce on 8th ave! Oddly enough, I was watching the game at the Kilkenny last night too, I was the guy in the Tanguay jersey.

Beer sucks. Have to go to the bathroom too much.
I'm not afraid to admit it. I pre drink at hockey games and sneak a mickey in. I'll still buy a beer though.
Sometimes I just stand around the Journal club section all night. Watch the game on monitors and drink.
Love it

What were you drinking? I know the premium beers like Kilkenny or Guinness are a lot more than say, Grasshopper or Canadian.

yep, calgary sure isn't getting any cheaper. although i guess it still beats london, where a normal pint will set you back about 6 quid.

Thats what I usually do....way cheaper and you don't smell like smoke and you can hear what people are talking about. But everyone likes their own thing I guess.
Those bars must be making a killing.

Oh man, yes! That is so awesome! I loved wearing those big puffy vests, I could fit an entire mini-bar in there!
If you are penny pinching, try the Regis on 7th Ave. 50 cent draft... served with a side of crack.

I never try to be "arrogant" on this site, but I have some moolah haha.
I'll still sneak one in. It's not about the money, we just have so much fun. I'll spend a lot at a game.
Plus: I'm East Indian (punjabi). It's part of our nature.

Can't you do that at home, without paying for a ticket?
I guess I just don't understand why people buy tickets then don't actually watch the game.

Exactly... I hate waiting in line for beer, especially when I would rather have a vodka and coke.

I respect your opinion, but it's all about the dollar to the owners. They don't care who comes.
I spend my hard earned money to buy a ticket, and I spend it to drink. It's not my problem. I'm contributing overall.
I'll take my employees out or other people out as well. It makes for a fun night.

I agree, the owners won't care. I'm not accusing you of anything, other than perhaps wasting your own hard earned coin.
EDIT: and I'll sneak in a beverage if I know the lines are going to be insane.

You have a point though. All I'm saying is that I have money to waste. I LOVe HOCKEY. WHY ELSE WOULD i BE ON A MESSAGE BOARD RIGHT?
I get what you are saying though. I still pay attention to the games. It's a different era now. lots of people go just to "get out".
My fiancee sucks. She puts up with my hockey addiction, but she doesn't care too much about it. I'll take a buddy and go enjoy the game and get wasted half the time.
Good times.\
To my fellow dippers on this site: Rye and Coke. Chaak De Phaaaaatey!

I'll drink whatever.
As a Desi, Crown is the "typical drink", but I like Tangle Ridge.
It's a tad more expensive for a 2-6, but it's smoother.
Overall, I can drink anything from Rum to Rye though.
