I think some (if not most) folk in this thread ought to step away from the keyboard for a bit.

Chillax people. It'll get done and it'll get done soon (no sources just my belief).

Even if you want to strong arm Bennett and be cheap with him, you still need to keep Johnny cap low enough to actually even have something to strong arm with.

Then you have to consider the precedent Johnny's new contract is going to have on all expiring ELC RFA's no matter their rights, not just on the Flames but league wide. You do know that right? What you give Gaudreau now dictates the future of 2nd contracts.

You can bluster all you want bu this contract is a bigger deal than just the player.

Giordano had 21 goals and 54 points last year, he plays defense. The last several years his defense has been as good as his offense. So maybe we shouldn't be dismissive of that because your Johnny needs a contract.
C'mon man, all that matters is offense. It's what they're building off of up north, and we see how well that works. Defense? Pfft. Just use a swarm system.

I'm getting fired up cause as a season ticket holder I'm sure as #### not excited to watch this team missing BY FAR their best forward. Our top 6 will now consist of (assuming they keep the Bennett line together):

- A 20 year old that had 36 points last season.
- A 31 year old that had 39 points last season
- An 18 year old rookie
- 1 actual first line player, a 21 year old 65 point player.
- 2, yes TWO, players that had under 33 points last year.

So what you're going to uphold some standard for the entire league so then you can turnaround and trade your best player so he signs some where else for the same ####ing money he's asking for anyways?

I'm okay with standing pat if he's asking for 7.5+

Anything lower than that and this will be a mistake. That's all.

LOL. You are without a doubt the most 'woe is me' human alive.

You somehow make everything about polak, and how it effects polak.

I get a tickle down under whenever I see how dismissive polak is of Sam Bennett. Apparently the Flames can only have one young offensive star player. Anyone who suggests any player comes close to dear Johnny is being ludicrous and crazy. Like no player in the NHL has ever hit 24 and 30 goals at the ages of 21 and 22.

Just terribly myopic.

If I'm asked why I'm getting fired up, I'm telling you why? How is that woe is me?

It's a piss off to see the Flames go through this.

So at this point, because you're salty, they should just write a blank cheque? It makes no sense. You will be the one PO'd in two years because they screwed their cap with that damn Gaudreau signing and they can't fit in Tkachuk.

The depraved part of me wants them to trade Gaudreau just to see the apocalyptic polak meltdown. Sorry.

I don't know how you can "Chillax", we are 4 days from the opening of the season and on our first game, we are going to be playing the Oilers in their new building and we don't have our best player signed.

I don't know what Johnny is asking for but you say here is 8 years at $7.5 million per season, if you like it sign or if you don't like it, stay home, you are being traded.

Can you imagine, if we lost to the Oilers on the first day of the season and on the first game in their new building and we don't have Johnny in the lineup

If the standard isn't held, we go right back to stupid money being thrown about, and yet another super fun, super awesome and suuuuper long lock out! The short sightedness astounds me. But to be fair, we're likely in for another lock out anywho, it's inevitable.

I won't melt down. I'll sit here bummed with the rest of you when we're in the lottery again hoping that who ever we get can come close to being as good as Johnny Gaudreau.

Except he's going to get that money regardless. Some other team will give it to him. You're not going to change anything.

You're GD right! There has to be a line or the whole league will be full of teams with 3 stars and a bunch of trash. There's a cap man....

And why the hell are they trading him in this scenario? Only about three of you have even brought that up. Not happening, he may be traded one day but it is far down the road.

Well, that's it. I have lost patience with both the team and the player. Not waiting around any longer. Going for lunch with Mrs. Impaler and then driving out to Invermere.
