His 2.5 cap hit is a dream for CHI. And Yak would explode in Chicago.

I believe in the Jays.

I could see the Oilers wanting Pokka. Yakupov with half cap eaten for Pokka (Expansion Draft eligible) stricks me as a deal they both might do.

CHI would send AHL player/s to EDM, and likely ask EDM to retain some of Yalupov's $2.5M salary. No deal imminent, but talks con't

Kind of weak for Edmonton...other teams should be in on this now.

Nothing gets Oiler Juices flowing like Old Oilers.
But I like the idea.
CHI: "Look Doug, I know, I know, just hang in there with me on this, we're going to sign you to a $5M/ 1 Year contract. Yes. Yes, I know thats insane. I also know you're 45 and have been retired for years.
Its just, once we sign you the Oilers will trade us Yakupov.
So the deal is we sign you, trade you Edmonton, then you can do whatever the hell you want, retire, again, collect the money, at that point we really just dont care, but the Oilers will only trade us Yakupov for you. No, I dont know why. Yes, I know its insane, we've discussed this already."

Are you absolute;y ###ting me? Some AHLers for a #1 overall pick with salary retained?
What kind of evidence do they have on Chia?

In all fairness trading for AHL'ers is probably an upgrade for the Oilers.

The fact that the best thing you can say about him is #1 pick is telling though. He's been in the league a couple of years now, the fact he was a #1 pick should be irrelevant, as we have other more meaningful data to judge him on.
That said, I'd be surprised if the return is that low.

Oilers fans getting a dose of reality on Yakupov's market value. It is even lower w/belief EDM wants to move before season opener.

I wouldn't trade a bag of pucks for Yak. He's garbage and Oiler trash!

Well with rumours they were just going to waive him, moving him might benefit them by getting rid of some more salary.
Of course Yakupov might benefit from a change in scenary so I hope it happens just to blow up in the Oilers faces

I get that, and I also know that #1 picks get more slack than they often deserve because of their high billing, but non-roster players and retained salary to a team as deep as the Chicago Blackhawks...
That really is like winning a lottery.
And getting traded from Edmonton to Chicago? Thats like winning a lottery for Yakupov.

I want this to happen for three reasons:
a) It would be an extra screw you to Hall by sending sending Yakupov to a contender (and Hall being sent to a team in purgatory)
b)I think Yakupov could thrive in Chicago. Get him Hossa, Toews, Kruger, etc.. and he might actually do well.
c) The return is likely very underwhelming

This must mean Oilers are going to give Vertseeg a contract and/or keep Puljarvi in their line-up.
I really think Wideman @50% retained + Poirer or Klimchuck made a lot of sense for both teams, but I think Chia would be too nervous about trading Yak to it's biggest rival in case Yak some-what turns it around.
But I would've thought that about Baertschi too

If all it takes is an AHL player, and you get him for a reduced salary....I'd like to see the Flames in on this. We're pretty shallow on the RW.
