Tkachuk stays.
Finally, the Flames have a real Tkachuk.

Arizona sure has a good young core. Maloney did great job building that team in recent years.
I'm sure Treliving will ask Maloney for advice here and there.

I was there for the first two periods.
- Tkachuk is here to stay. Great on the forecheck and looks faster than Monahan so I don't think speed is an issue.
- Elliott looked solid, shook off the early goal which in no way was on him.
- Shinkaruk had some good flashes, I notice him making plays which gives me hope.
- Ferland was all over the puck, but he continues to be poor at passing. Needs to work on his accuracy.
- Bouma looked better than any point last season and the hit/fight was icing on the cake.
- Chiasson was decently noticeable out there. He'll get some more looks.
- Vey looks like the shell of a skilled player. You can see something was there, but the confidence and swagger is gone.
- Bennett continued his beast mode streak.
- Stajan stood out in a bad way offensively.
- Brouwer had good times and bad times.

I thought he was. First on the forecheck a couple times, sure... but he immediately lost the puck.
From what I've seen, I'd way rather Korpikoski than Higgins and/or Vey.

Thoughts on Shinkaruk for those who saw the game? Also any thoughts on grossman? Surprised he's still around.

My impressions from the game:
Bennett - continues his step up from last year. Great chemistry on his line, great feed to Tkachuk on the goal. Good in faceoffs. You can tell he's been working on it.
Brouwer - quietly effective tonight.
Tkachuk - really improving game by game. Very smart player. Noticed his rushes up the ice seem more confident. The mouth guard thing is annoying.
Frolik - generated quite a few chances.
Backlund - good form. Usual self. I would go with Ferland or Shinkaruk with him and Frolik.
Ferland - might be the best option for the top line. Has the skill to keep up to the other two.
Shinkaruk - he's a good player, viewing up close tonight from the corner, thought he was an effective forechecker. Another option for top line, but might move up and down it this season. Is NHL ready.
Vey - meh.
Chiasson - solid effort tonight. Much better than previous games but really a bottom six guy.
Bouma - asserts himself physically. Looked good. Hoping for a bounce back. Good PKer.
Stajan - not bad.
Higgins - ok. Decent 4th line option, PK specialist.
Giordano - looking solid as usual.
Brodie - a real treat to watch up close. He'll have a great year.
Jokipakka - impressed with him. Just very solid, poised, makes good passes and decisions. Needs a bit more bite on his shot.
Hamilton - rounding into form nicely.
Grossman - too slow, but damn tough
Engelland - great hits on Crouse in the 3rd. Looked solid.
Elliott - excellent.
