7 @ 7.5 is a huge over payment.
7 @ 7 is about the richest RFA deal ever considering 5 RFA years.
So if that's Johnnys position keep grinding.

It's been reported his ask is 8+, not 8

Friedman on the radio said he believes the Flames number was 6.4. Monahan money.

The bold above plays zero factor into anything. A pepsi used to cost 50 cents at the store 30 years ago, so why doesn't it cost that much anymore?

You guys are all precluding the possibility that Treliving is coming back to Calgary with Johnny in his checked luggage.
"If it wants out of the bag it signs the contract!"

On the surface by Treliving going to Johnny, I think he blinked first. If that's the case than I see Brad paying more than he expected. I'd guess the contract comes in at the $7M range.

Treliving going to New York tells me he's got the upper hand but wanted to offer that up so Gross can save some face and look like he has some sway in this negotiation.

If a weather reporter got smoked with a Stop sign it should be front-page news!

A year a go a Pepsi cost 2 bucks. It still costs two bucks. Not sure what your point is. Mine is the flames aren't paying him more the the blues did considering the RFA years. They aren't resetting the market.

He is not under contract and the flames are playing hard ball(both sides are) what leverage would brad have to ask Johnny to fly out on his own dime? I don't think it's a matter of brad blinking at all. These types of things are normal and it could just as easily be argued that brad told Johnny and a his agent that he will fly out to discuss things out of good will rather than have Johnny fly all the way back to Calgary only to be told the flames aren't moving on their offer. I would look at it differently if Johnny flew out to Calgary when he doesn't have to, and would show his hand a little as far as how seriously the flames should consider the threat of him holding out past the start of the season.
