Default Cleaning your hockey gear

I've never cleaned some of my hockey gear and I am now in a need to really clean some of it. I started to get a rash on my knee at the end of last season and I suspected it was from my shin guard. After playing hockey once this year that rash came back and it worsened after the 2nd game.

So I need to clean the shin guard, I'm just not sure how to go about it. Any tips?

Buff,

Not sure how applicable the thread is to you, but I started a thread a few weeks ago about cleaning hockey gear. Sounds like it may be a little worse though than just the smell.

Go to self serve car wash.

Attach shin guards to floor mat clips.

Preasure wash until no longer yellow.

I'm washing my gear tonigt, just throwing it in the bathtub with laundry soap and sloshing it around a bit. Then hanging it to dry.
