It's still a strange notion.

Johnny's been lights out in just two NHL seasons. Trying to peg his ceiling seven years from now is guess-work... as is trying to ascertain where the cap might be.

It's so hard to say, it's not worth saying.

I just don't think the statement "Gaudreau is not likely to be worth 9.9M in 7 years?" holds any water. Not only is it highly speculative, you'd have to assume either record low cap inflation or material regression from the player he is today.

But everyones point is that "Gaudreau is likely to be worth 9.9m in 7 years" holds about as much water as "Gaudreau is not likely to be worth 9.9m in 7 years".

I don't know if you're just a Matt Damon wannabe or if you're Lewis Gross' Darren to Kramerica, but one thing is sure, your contribution here has been subtraction by addition.

I can't believe it, but I am seriously wondering whether I want this signing to be over so that we have our star, or so that you will just stop being around here. You have actually made Flames fans come really close to resenting Johnny, with your incessant presence.

The sooner you GTFO, the better.

The vast majority of your posts have been with a Gaudreau bias, I'm sure you'd even admit that. You like the player, like him as a person, think he's a fantastic hockey player and a better person. That's awesome and it's good to have sports heroes to look up to. Just once however, one single time, I'd love to have you look at things from the other side, the other side of the negotiating table.

Now I'm not asking you to be an Erlich Bachman but it would a neat little experiment, see if you can get out of that Johnny Bubble. Look at the small history the Flames have to look at, the leverage (or lack thereof) the player has, etc etc. All that wonderful stuff.

Now this isn't a fair request to make of you and only you but since you've been leading the Johnny Hockey #1 Fanboy Super Awesome Wow fan club you'd be an excellent candidate.

I would like to join the Johnny Hockey #1 Fanboy Super Awesome Wow Fan Club if I may. What's are the membership dues? Troll CP with ridiculous contract proposals in favor of the player?

I disagree with that. It's more likely than not that Gaudreau stays level or improves over the next 6 years. Cap inflation is more likely to be >3% than it is to be <3%.

Is there a risk that he regresses, or that the cap level stagnates? Sure. But the former seems unlikely and the latter would be unprecedented.

Is this based on anything other than opinion?

Don't tell CroFlames that 7x7.3M is very reasonable.

Don't forget the 5,000 word essay on why Mr. Gaudreau is worth $8.5 million+. Please be sure to touch on how and why anyone who disagrees hates Mr. Gaudreau and are disparaging his character. We recommend you include a full breakdown of the Tarasenko contract with a side-by-side HERO analysis.

I've been staying out of this thread because it is horrible. I find it funny however that Gaudreauvertime only joined 2 months ago yet already has over 500 posts almost exclusively in this thread. Come on buddy mix it up a bit, there are lots of excellent threads on CP. Maybe check out the Off topic forum?

I find it funny that he's getting such a huge response out of people. Its amusing. Not only how easily annoyed people can get at someones ridiculous/contrarian opinion on an online hockey forum - but how people will challenge him, respond to him and quote him over and over again as if they cant see how he's playing this thread. People love piling on and feeding trolls around here. Or maybe we just have a lot of over 35 users on here who dont quite know how to internet like those closer in age to millennials do. Perhaps people who havent been on places like reddit/youtube and arent familiar with trolls and how to deal with them.

HINT: they love attention.

I've done my fair share of trolling on here (off topic forum) and I'm convinced older users have no troll-ometer.
