Yeap, and hopefully the Jays aren't in a spot where they need to use any of those three pitchers.
Actually, check that. Hopefully they are up 20-2 and go ahead and use those guys in the late innings lol

Happ and Sanchez were left off as they can't be used for the 1 game playoff.
If the Jays make the ALDS, they'll be added and probably Feldman and Tepera come off.

Help, save, whatever.

Can't believe so many on here doubting Stroman. The guy is a fireball. I have no worries about him starting. Like people have said, it's the hitting I'm worried about. It's been so bad for so long I'm just hoping they have one of their good nights tomorrow. JD, JB, EE those guys need to step it up.

I'm not worried about Stroman, I'm worried about the lack of run support that he gets. I think I can count the run support he has got over his last 3 starts on one hand. He has a good start, and gets run support the Jays should be fine.

Tillman has certainly had his struggles against the Jays in the past so I am hoping that pattern continues tomorrow night.
My stress levels are going to be out of hand.

I thought liriano would get the start based on the numbers, but I'm not shocked they went against that and are going with stroman. I'm confident stroman will come out and put in a good performance. If the bats come to play I think the jays will be okay. Looking forward to tomorrow night. Really want to see a jays/rangers rematch.

Well if Stroman goes out and lays an egg at least we'll be rid of Gibbons next year.

Is there a way they can win and Gibbons still gets fired? Dare to dream...

Why all the hate for Gibbons? Every manager makes bad bullpen decisions in hindsight.
He deserves a little credit for becoming the 2nd manager in Jays history to qualify for back to back postseasons.

Stroman has given up the most runs of a Jays starter in 12 games in that last outing. Of course, the Jays starters gave up less then 2 runs in those 12 games, and Stroman 4.
Gibby rolling the dice, but probably doing this in part for Stroman and the team. If Liriano was part of the team since the beginning of the year, I wager he gets the ball.
Hopefully Gibby has a quick hook if required, and hopefully Stroman's nerves and excitement doesn't get the better of him.
Leaves Happ, Estrada, Liriano and Sanchez for games 1-4 vs TEX...and Stroman again game 5.
If they get there, two day games to start, though the ALDS Game 5 was afternoon in Toronto. Thursday and Friday afternoon, will make that a tough work day, especially headed into a long weekend.
Game 3 in Toronto falls on Sunday of a long weekend, so that actually works out, given an evening game.
And, groan to TBS.

They should have won the East by 15 games with what the starting pitching turned out to be

But wasn't the great starting pitching cancelled out by an inconsistent bullpen and the offence having an off year?
In 2015 the Jays had 232 HRs and outscored opponents 891 to 670. In 2016 they had 221 HRs and outscored opponents 759 to 666. Pitching was about the same but the offense had a massive drop.
If anything Gibbons should be praised for only losing 4 more games compared to 2015 while the team scored 132 less runs.

There are a few articles on the internet and also Shapiro's interview on Tim and Sid that allude to both Stroman and Liriano pitching in the wild card game.
I think Stroman will go through the order twice and at the first sign of trouble, Liriano will come in. I think the plan is for Stroman to go at least 5 innings hopefully keep the O's under 3 runs, and then have Liriano come in for 2 shutdown innings, leading to Biagini, Cecil, Grilli in the 8th and Osuna in the 9th.
Unless of course Stroman can't even get through the order the first time.
