I'm not. He's a good PK guy (which we need), and he'd be fine in limited minutes on the 4th line. He's better than some other options we still have in camp.

Gillies probably just due to getting down to Stockton training camp since he'll be the #1 down there all year

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Grossmann still here. Be afraid....
Edit: I have seen no reason for any of the PTOs to be given full time consideration regardless of what their supposed specialty may be.

I thought Grigorev was an interesting enough prospect to at least earn a minor league contract. I wonder if he heads back to Russia now?

I hope it's just to give the real veterans some rest before the season starts.

Different goals and development paths probably. Chad is going to be our backup this year (unless he steals the net from Elliot) and Elliot our starter, that's not in question, at least to start the year.
Most important thing is for Gillies to be the go to guy and have a great year as Stockton's number 1. Sending him down now is likely deemed the best move to get him ready for a successful start to the AHL season.

Yeah that would be bad IMO. Guy is slower than Griffin Reinhart. I'd take Kulak over him any day.

Gillies needs to get ready as stocktons starter, might as well get him down to the farm and working on his game instead of delaying the inevitable.
Plus it'll be good to see Johnson and Elliot tandem for the final preseason games.

I think the PTOs will be final cuts as part of a courtesy to veteran players. These guys are not just playing for a spot with the Flames, they are hoping at minimum to attract attention and a contract from other teams.

Kenney Morrison sticks around. He's really starting the season on the right note and has worked himself into that "call up" range with Witherspoon and Kulak

and korpikoski, and chiasson, and grossmann, and vey. all of them. Very ugly group of PTOs with new acquires this year. can we just flip the Habs a 4th for Byron back?

He looked completely lost out there from my viewings. I don't even know if he'd be good enough for the AHL, especially considering all the prospects we want to get playing time. Chances are he wouldn't get much out of it.

I will like to Kulak make the team, but isn't Russell being signed to at least a 1-year deal just a matter of time.

That's a good point, another reason nobody should freak out about a PTO being in camp late.
I still think one of Korpikoski or Higgins makes the opening roster. If nothing else, as a 13/14th forward.
