I'm going to go ahead and trust Monahan on this and not the word of some anonymous "insider".
Monahan's answer seemed like a canned response imo. I know he wants to stay.. we want him in th line up.. I'm sure it will get done soon... ThaT sort of thing.
yeah, you're correct. Point is till valid, 10-15% is still a hell of a lot of money over the course of 7 or 8 years and worth holding out for.

Monhan's exact quote was "I talk to Johnny a little bit, and I'm sure something is going to get done here soon."
That's very different than the standard canned answer.

Disagree, a canned response would have been along the lines of "I haven't really talked to him about his contract situation"

Yes it is a lot of money. However, your assumption that signing in another league would result in him actually getting 10-15% more money, is pure, baseless speculation.
Location: Wondering when # became hashtag and not a number sign.
Exp:
Kevin Paul Dupont is truly one of the more respected writers in the game and has strong ties to the Bruins organization, so that coming from him is kind of worrisome.
That being said, even if Gaudreau has asked for a trade, there is no possible way he can name his destination in Bos/Phi/NJ. That's one ask he WONT get from BT, though that does not preclude them from being possible landing spots.
Interesting stuff and I was sure the whole delay in things was nothing more than SOP for both sides. Not sure thats the case any longer.

It's garbage. He's probably still butt-hurt about Hamilton.
Here's a small detail that kind of matters: even if there were a trade, Gaudreau has no say on where he would be traded to.
Also, this is a pretty standard trick from an agent: make the 'not asking for a trade at this time' comment, then get a reporter to 'leak' a story to get people nervous.

Yeah the timing of it all seems just a little too convenient.
