I don't understand why we didn't walk Ortiz in the 7th. You take away his bat and create a possible double play. It was too risky to let him and he burned us

I can't remember ever cheering for a team that choked this bad. The Flames blowing an 11 point lead over the Canucks for the division in 09 was pretty embarrassing but atleast they still made the playoffs by 9 points.

This Jays team reminds me of the 87 team that choked away a division title.

The hitting has been brutal, but the bullpen has been giving up some really team deflating runs. It really is the perfect storm of the offence drying up and then when they can muster a lead the bullpen comes in and promptly blows it.

Leaving men on base in key situations has hurt the Jays the most. They can't seem to add to a lead late in the game and most times it costs them, like it did tonight.

What are the chances of making it now? Win out and make it?

right now they are 0.5 ahead of the Tigers who have a game to make up Monday vs Cleveland if necessary

any ties for the 2nd wild card to a 1 game playoff

its hard to give a specific scenario because 4 teams are involved

if they win out, they are guaranteed at least a tie for 2nd in the wild card, and a tiebreaker game

70.1% are the updated fangraphs odds after all of tonight's results.

You'd look at that number and normally think happy thoughts. hard to believe it's that high really. But, win 1 and you're still in good shape. Win 2 and you clinch at least a tie for the wildcard.

Shocked it's still that high. That seems unpossible.

To be a least a little bit positive, you have to give credit to the starters this season. If anyone should be ticked off if they do indeed miss the playoffs it's them. Collectively, they've been pretty darn awesome.

Never thought I'd see the day where the potential blames for missing the 2016 playoffs lays at the feet of the offense (along with the bullpen). That's craziness.

Possibility still exists for a 4 way tie! Just from a sports fan perspective I would love to see it happen. Records neeeed for the 4 way tie:

Baltimore: 0-2
Toronto: 1-1
Detroit: 2-1
Seattle: 2-0

Yeah and barring any trades the whole rotation is back next season.

If Shapiro and co. can fix the bullpen this team can break our hearts again a year from now lol

We won't have Joey or Edwing so the batting problems will be worse

I'd kinda love to see this mini tourney three way tie breaker.

Jays would probably get a home game in a mini tiebreaker

Quote:
AMERICAN LEAGUE
*Blue Jays: They hold the tiebreaker over the Orioles and Tigers. They tied the Mariners head to head, so it would depend on their final record against teams in their division, which is still to be determined.
*Orioles: They hold the tiebreaker over the Tigers. They lost the season series to the Blue Jays and Mariners.
*Tigers: They hold the tiebreaker over the Mariners, and lost the season series to the Orioles and Blue Jays.
