I'm gonna play devil's advocate here: back when Giordano was negotiating his extension last summer, we heard basically nothing from the "insiders" all summer and then a deal popped up on Twitter and via press release in inboxes.

Treliving is almost notoriously tight-lipped about these kinds of things.

As a fan the negotiations between the Flames and JG has never bothered me personally. There are so many things to be excited about with this team and of course we want Johnny to be part of it. The same thing with Monahan's new contract this summer. For months there was no news, then in the span of a few hours there was Eric Francis's report that a deal was close, followed shortly by a contract announcement.

Also, I think it's a wise decision to drop any reaction to further insults and dislike, as 1.) It just invites opportunity for those haters to dogpile further, but most importantly 2.) I feel like this is the 3rd or 4th time we've skated over this matter and any more might be interpreted as straight-up attention-seeking.

To be fair Ken King is a lawyer and a business man AND was speaking to season ticket holders at a season ticket event so wouldn't be shocked if he was just trying to calm the tier 1 fans nerves down.

Like I said earlier, I'll believe it when I see it. If they are not close not, I see no reason to believe a deal will 100% get done unless Calgary just plans on caving to Johnny's demands.
