I think it was nik who said Hillary needs to talk more about her policies and less about Trump. She was giving a speech on some policies earlier....then Trump took the stage and what do you know, every single network cut away from her to go to Trump. So even when she does talk policy, a totally meaningless Trump rally gets the coverage.

The Toronto police under Ford were doing this up until the new mayor took over and made them stop. They called it "carding", but it was basically the same thing.

While Canada's race relations are only marginally better at least when it comes to black people, it did a lot of damage when that practice was happening.

BTW, "Stop and Frisk" in NYC was declared unconstitutional and was stopped because of that. You would think a presidential nominee would know that.

Where is this mystery about Trump coming from? The only mystery left is how there is such a large segment of suckers willing to buy snake oil from a salesman who tells you it won't work.

Yep. You mentioned in an earlier post that nothing Trump says will hurt him in the slightest. I agree, and it's just depressing. I was somewhat looking forward to the debates a month or so ago, because I figured he would say something completely idiotic that would destroy his campaign. But now, it looks like he could wave his dick around on stage and people would still be fawning all over him.

Completely bored with the whole thing now and wish it would just end.

I'm a strict constitutionalist and as such believe black people don't have rights because they are worth only 3/5ths of a white human.

As I said before she pretty much can't win. Maybe she should start her policy speeches with "So I wanna get rid of white people..." to get the shock value up so the networks stay. But with the networks totally in the tank for Trump, she could give the greatest policy speech ever, but if he has a rally where he plays farting noises for two hours, they'll cut away from here, give him non-stop coverage AND a few more house of panels to discuss what the farting noises mean. There's virtually nothing she can do to change this.

Well I'm not a strategist so I don't know what she should do. She could try to tackle the uphill battle of her likeability but it's probably too late for that.

At the end of the day because of the networks being in the tank for Trump, she is stuck with no winning strategy. I agree she should stop focusing on Trump's clownshoe statements, because you would hope they'll sink him alone without her harping on them, but as we just saw focusing on her message isn't going to get her coverage either. Ultimately she needs to let him meltdown in the debates on his own, and push her message as much as possible in the debates. Probably her only play right now.

Those debates have to not even be close. They shouldn't be, but if they're anything but embarrassing for Trump, Clinton could legitimately be in trouble.

How are we even in this place? Blaming the media isn't totally just. They chase ratings, this isn't new.

There's more to it than that though. She's a bad candidate. But something sinister has been brewing in the USA over the last decade or so.

Even with "something sinister" you're capping at low 40's % voters for the Red team. The fact that she's not owning that left support and middle ground is, frankly, embarrassing.

Right now Obama, even with all the vitriol against him or Biden would be ####ing destroying this election. Gore would probably be doing better at this point and I'm pretty sure he was made from sawdust.

But you and I both know Trump will be curved graded like a ######ed child, so long as he doesn't crap his pants or make any period jokes, he'll be declared the winner. She could kill him on substance and policy, and even drop a few good one liners, but if Trump comes out having not talked about his dick, he'll be the "winner".

Blaming the media is actually quite important here, if they had done their goddamn jobs from day one on Trump he'd already be out. Imagine all the stuff Fahrenthold is finding came out 1 year ago. Do you really think he survives another full year of the media actually investigating him? Of course not. That's why their fawning over what Fahrenthold is doing is kinda pathetic, they all could have done the same job if they wanted. Obviously they didn't want to, for whatever reason.

Blaming the media is a cop out. There has been a ton of reporting on dumb things Trump has said. For over a year now this stuff has been brought against him by his opponents and reported and it hasn't done anything.

When this stuff is brought up against him it causes his support to circle the wagons, not question their choices.

It's not the media's job to defeat nominees, it's their opponents'.

And yet the media right now is clearly driving Hillary down to prop Trump up so we get a horse race (and the millions in ad buys actually happen). The media's job is to investigate and report fairly and accurately (like Fox News says.....). Trump lies to their face, they know it, but do they press? Of course not, he might get mad and not do a one-on-one interview later on.

Hillary is a bad candidate, everyone knows and recognizes it. Suggesting the media hasn't been a massive aid to Trump for a while now is ignoring reality. If they covered him like any other POTUS candidate, he would have been out long ago. Reporting on his absurd statements and rallies that they only cover in the hopes of catching a crowd fight or Trump mocking a disable person is not reporting, that's TMZ level crap. They haven't looked into Trump and his history like they would any other candidate. Now that exactly one reporter is looking into him, what do you know, he's find illegalities and dirt everywhere.
