He was still left off the team. Wasn't named to the team back when they named their rosters so he for sure feels slighted even if he was injured.

No. Just a comment to reflect my general disdain for all things football down here. Every second ####### is asking me if I'm gonna watch the local high school or college team play this weekend. I want to smack all of them in the face.

This probably belongs in the gear grinders thread.

America is over 300 million people, to say they don't care is ignorant. I have spent time in California, there are die hard hockey fans there and they are very patriotic. Can't imagine places like Chicago, New York etc...

Straight fire. I like Kessel a lot more now that he's a champion and not a Leaf.

Kane and maybe Pavelski or Wheeling make Team Canada.
I don't think one USA D could make Canada.
Total mismatch talent wise.
Not even close.
The notion Pavelski wouldn't have made Team Canada is absurd. He's a better player than Thornton or Couture, for starters. The guy has the second most goals in the league in the last three seasons after Ovechkin, and plays a complete all-around game.

Babcock announced that Crawford will start tomorrow with Holtby backing up.

Maybe. But if he was hurt maybe they thought they'd leave him off to see how severe it was and name him later if need be. Who knows, just playing devil's advocate.

The US left 4 of their top 10 eligible scorers (not including Gadreau/Eichel/Larkin because they weren't allowed to play) at home so plugs like Backes, Abdelkader and Dubinsky could play. They also left 2 of their top defense scorers in Yandle and Shattenkirk at home. Serves them right for not being able to score.

Yeah I dont know. Canada is so deep at centre and I'm not sure how good of a winger Pavelski would be. And how many of those goals are from being on the same line as Thornton? I think at best he might have been Seguin's replacement over O'Reilly.

They named the team before he was injured. It is possible they would have named him an injury replacement but I think he still feels like it's a slight against him.

Pavelski plays wing in San Jose.

He has a great shot and is arguably the best deflection man in the NHL since Nieuwendyk. Thornton might inflate his goal totals but he inflates Thornton's assist totals too.

The U.S. has some very good players, but the construction of that team was terrible and the choice of coach absurd.

Kane was barely noticeable and did Wheeler even touch the puck? I don't remember hearing his name.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I thought I read that he was indeed injured at the time, but I could be wrong.

Whoops, yeah, he'd make it for sure then. Weird that circumstances make it so that hes playing centre in this tournament and Thornton is playing wing.

Edit: Pavelski actually plays mostly centre for the sharks even though he's listed as RW. Him and Thornton switch a lot on draws, but Pavleski is usually down low in D-zone while Thornton is on the boards at the point.

Another shot at the U.S. team.

Really glad I was born without legs. The US sled team has a much better track record of success than the US stand up men's team....
