I don't think it matters - Canada looks like they can hang five or six on anyone without much trouble. Nothing can happen when the other team doesn't have the puck.

They didn't take Phil Kessel or Tyler Johnson. Johnny was never going to make this team.

Jim Hughson is a million percent less insufferable when he's not being weighed down by Glenn Healy.

Supposedly they asked for exemptions from TNA. You'd have to think Gaudreau would've been one of those they were thinking of.

Getzlaf finally gave in to the ever increasing demands of his forehead cul de sac.

Bergeron, Toews, Marchand, O'Reilly, Couture, and Pavelski say hi.
I agree with what you're saying in that they didn't forego talent in order to have checkers (like Draper), but the need for balance and different roles is still there. And is very present on this team.

He would probably look better than some of these guys, but it would still be largely irrelevant.
Kane is unable to do anything, so I can't imagine it would be any different for Johnny.

Woulda been tricky to get Pavelski to sign up for Canada... But if we're going the route of stealing other countries players I'd rather have Kopitar.

Go Canada go sounds pretty awkward when chanted. There has to be a better option. "Let's go Canada *clap clap clapclapclap*"?
Still not great but at least it has some rhythm.

uhhh ok. Every single guy you mentioned there would be on the ice in the last minute of an NHL game if their team needed a goal to tie.

Bergeron, Toews, and ROR combined have a cap hit of $26M.
They bring the best, most complete players in the game. It's why O'Reilly is here and Taylor Hall is taking another crack at passing his boating exam.

All those guys you mention are 1st line NHL'ers counted on as primary scoring threats for their club teams.
What's the point I am missing?

In the intermission Brett Hull and Chris Chelios were analyzing the game for ESPN. They both said the Americans don't look in it mentally, and nobody looks like they're having any fun out there. Both were suggesting there was something wrong in the dressing room for the Americans as they've been flat in both games.
Playing for Tortorella will do that to a team of elite talents. I'm still amazed he's currently employed in the NHL and Bob "let's have fun" Hartley isn't.

Yeah, not sure what I was thinking throwing Pavelski in there.

I gather it's that they can bring a checking line and still have those players be super high-end scoring threats.

Down goes Brown was saying yesterday Torts is fast approaching Marc Crawford territory, where everyone agrees your Stanley Cup doesn't count.

To be fair, I don't think Bob was as "fun" as he came across in the media.
