You are absolutely correct when you mention that it depends on so many variables for each individual and a blanket recommendation is irresponsible.

How do you manage to advise so many teachers on this and not be a advisor?

Lets get this thread back on track of bashing teachers/teaching profession/students/milennials and, if there is time, University Profs.
|
I know a bunch of teachers and a few university profs. From what I gather, the teachers appear to have a way better deal. Research and funding pressures plus lack of long-term positions are some of the negatives.
As for the earlier posts on MD's - I think family physicians do well, but after all their overhead is deducted (nurse, reception, accounting, leased space) they are not even in the same ballpark as certain specialists that work primarily out of hospitals.
I think dentists blow everyone out of the water in terms of earnings vs. hours worked.

19 pages of attacking/defending a job?
If said job is easy and cushy, stop whining and go get that job. Sounds awesome.
If said job is harder and way worse than anything else, quit.
If said job is hard but so rewarding you want to stay, great. You are getting more out of your job than 90% of people out there. Again, we don't all need to hear about it.

Probably the same way that every 3rd poster on here happens to be a lawyer?

Every time I see this thread I get annoyed that the quotes aren't around the word "work".

But unlike many other jobs, we will all absolutely have to pay for it.

Do you think that's the only error in the sentence?

He may be pointing out the fact that there are other significant errors in the statement. Faled in place of failed, teacher's instead of teachers.

A good chunk of my niece's curriculum is online now. You just keep doing it until you get the grade you want. Not sure how hard those teachers are working.

I don't think a teachers job needs to be hard to be effective.
Sal Khan has a great Ted talk advocating this kind of learning. It actually makes a lot of sense.

We all know that not every teacher/school is created equal.
Is there a good site for reviews of teachers/schools online anywhere? (Calgary specifically)
Thanks,
