Jankowski and the Flames 1st pick this year (say $5 or 6 overall) might get Chicago to trade us Teravainen.

You somehow have Jankowski having a 40 pt season .... over the next couple of years? ever?

How much better is Jankowski than Arnold or Corbin Knight?
First off, a 5th or 6th overall and Jankowski might get Chicago to trade us Teravainen? What an absurd thing to write.

Secondly, Teravainen has never had a 40 pt season, so I'm not sure why that is your criterion. Regardless, yes I do think Jankowski can reach the level of say Mikael Backlund's current play; 40 pts with excellent two-way play. Better size, and hopefully better at face-offs.

As far as comparisons to Arnold and Knight, I think Jankowski is a much better skater than either of them. We'll obviously have to see how Jankowski's game translates to the pros to compare them, but we've got plenty of time for that.

I'm not sure why you're in such a hurry judge the pick anyways. Everyone knew this was a long term project.

That sounds like exactly what Hartley said about Monahan.

Just wanted to mention a 2nd and taking on Brian Bickell will get you Teravainen.

And that Jankowski is better than Arnold and Knight.

Geez man. Ricardo's posts are confusing enough without bumping an old one!

I normally get confused on 6-month-old posts as well, on topic, I wish people would forget about draft year, where he was taken and let him compete against the other rookies before claims .

What is everyone's expectations for Janko? I'm imagining he'll start the year in the AHL? I'd think a 25-25 pace while playing Janko D would be a pretty good first professional season.

I expect him to unlock approx. 60% of achievements in the new Call of Honor: Medal of Duty game. He's had 4 damn years to become an xbox savant

The hockey thing? Something like Morgan Klimchuk

I think 50 points in a 68 games season is overly optimistic. This is a team that had just a single 50 point player last year and let 4 of their top 5 scorers walk via free agency

I should have clarified - I meant. a 25-25 pace over an 82 game season. So if he played 60 games in the AHL he'd be around 35-40 points, hopefully with a cup of coffee in the NHL.

I have way higher hopes for Janko than what Klimchuk has done so far.

Fair, but I suspect we all had higher hopes for Klimchuk than what Klimchuk has done so far. On the other hand, my expectations for Janko have always been higher than my expectations for Klimchuk (more dimensions to the game).

Yeah I'm not giving up on Klimchuk yet. Just not sure if he's a "does everything well" guy or a "doesn't do anything that well" guy.

I thought Arnold was a "does everything well" guy too.

He was. And then Huska put him in a "don't get anywhere near the offensive zone" role and his offense dried up.

Instead of putting a defensive centre in a position to work on his 2-way game, he kept him in his usual role in hopes that they'd win some games.

Winning > Development in the AHL with Huska and he can't even get the winning right.

If Jankowski scored at a 50 point pace there's no describing the level of shock that I would feel. That estimate is way too high.

30 points would impress the hell out of me.

You would be indescribably shocked if a player who had 6 points in 8 games had ~42 in 68 games?

Alrighty then.

I guess you're right, no player ever has had a spike in points when first getting called up and then wasn't able to reproduce that pace over an entire season.

Jankowski isn't going to be in a position to get to a 50 point pace unless he's Gaudreau's centre.

If he's lucky, he makes the team as the #4C. He's not ahead of Bennett, he's sure not ahead of Backlund and they aren't keeping him as a winger.

30 point pace is completely reasonable if he spends significant time on the NHL roster.

I'm tempering my expectations with Jankowski, but I'm also not putting a limitation on what I think he'll achieve this year.

This will be his first young stars tournament and I'm excited to see how he matches up. I consider him and Mangiapane ultimate dark horses going into this camp.

I'm pretty sure the discussion was about his potential point total in the AHL, not the NHL.

My bad, misread.

I'll split the difference and say a 40 point pace. It's the AHL. It's not easy to score down there.
