He's probably just super zoomed in, too scared to get closer and take a picture. Pretty sure when Darryl Sutter left Calgary he took Franklin's balls with him.

I'm so freaking old, I learned to watch porn thru the hazy bars and interference on my Cathode Ray Tube Television. This is child's play in comparison.
That being said, look at his body language. The way he's holding his arms, the tilt of his body, etc. You combine that with the fairly intense look on his face and it all reads unhappy.

I have a question for those who may be able to answer it.
Can the Flames LTIR Smid without his consent? If he has been cleared to play and is medically ok I am wondering if the Flames have the legal right to prevent him from practicing etc? I know teams can scratch players for a long time (Anton Babchuk) but practicing is a different story. If a team prevents a player from being part of on-ice activities it can hamper their effort to earn a contract with another team.
The reason why i am asking this is because from all media reports at WinSport, it appears as if Smid has been skating as if he THINKS he will be playing.
I know that the NHLPA is in a battle with the Leafs over a player who was injured and was in the PROCESS of bought out. In that scenario the player is actually out $$ due to only 2/3 of the contract being paid. I believe it was Jared Cowen.

1. Sure.
2. As long as #2 doesnt happen.
The Flames can put Smid on LTIR if he isnt medically cleared. If he is medically cleared then I think all they can do is scratch him or tell him to stay home, but there would be no cap relief.
Put it this way, I want Smid to play if Smid can play as he could play. I dont want Smid to play if his noggin is connected to his spine by a fragile thread and hes risking his future well being.
Despite his filthy Oiler beginnings I really like Smid. And the guy is going to get paid one way or the other.
'Stay healthy and have your cake too' would be my advice.
Be wealthy, relaxed and play beer league or something where no one is looking to separate your head from your shoulders. And, medically speaking, I'm not certain as to how literally accurate that statement really is and I really dont want to know.

When Smid first returned last year he looked OK, in all honesty. Actually quicker than before he got hurt.
I think it's a huge huge risk for him. And I also think the Flames have better options at present. So for the good of all, I actually hope he's not medically cleared. Take him to the most cautious doctor out there.

On the other hand, the fact he's LTIR doesn't stop him from practicing, which seems to be implied in the other poster's post. He can only do what's authorized or recommended, I think, but so far he's just been out for some skates, no?

The best thing for Ladislav Smid is for him to be medically cleared to play, and then he plays. That is what I am hoping for. Really love the updates where Smid is training " as if he expects to play". Well, he should be expecting to play
Smid wants to play. He doesn't care about the Flames cap situation. And nor should he and neither do I. Looking forward to seeing Smid on opening night against the Oilers.
Giordano.........Hamilton
Brodie............Engelland
Wideman........Jokkipakka
Smid, Wotherspoon, Kulak
All it takes is one pre season injury to a Dman and then he is in opening night.
