It's the eastern conference bias. Not a big deal but it exists.

Give him a little credit - if he drew it up in the bath, it was on his iPad.

Oh my god, the crying over nothing, and unsubstantiated claims that Bettman doesn't care about Canadian markets.

The whole freking tournament is being held in Canada in the location they know will pay the most for tickets to make this successful. God forbid they try to drum up some interest in the tournament in the States to try and increase the success of the tournament because the American audience isn't the slam dunk to give a #### about hockey. Whether it worked or not, why the butt hurt over giving it a shot, it's an exhibition exhibition game anyway.

My point wasn't eastern western bias, it was the fact that two non US teams were playing in the U.S., when Canada was one of the teams. People in Canada would care more and pay more to see Canada play in Canada. Not a big deal I agree just silly is all. Why not have the USA play Sweden in Montreal? Because it makes no sense, you'd give the states the home game so Americans can do their stupid USA chant.

Maybe, just maybe, the guy wearing the C for Canada played a role in Pittsburgh getting this game...

If I had to guess, I'd say the NHLPA mandated a schedule that minimized the travel for the players.

well then they likely were pretty stupid to listen to him.

Ticket prices in Pittsburgh for international game sans USA < ticket prices in Canada for a game featuring Canada vs. Russia's best players.

I could buy that if they didn't play a bunch of games in Europe last week.

But like I said it's not a big dealio, maybe next time around all the games will be out west.

Oddly I'd be more ok with that than Pittsburgh so Sidney can get tucked into his own bed tonight.

I think it would have been cool to have Group A play their round robin in the West (CGY, VAN, EDM, WPG) and Group B in the east (TOR, MTL, MSG, DET)

Quarter, semi and finals can be MTL and TOR.

Like I said it's not 1987 anymore.

The 1987 Canada Cup was a single 6 team round robin, semifinals then best of 3 final. It was played in Calgary, Regina, Hartford, Halifax, Sydney, Montreal and Hamilton

The 1984 Canada Cup the final was in Edmonton and Calgary. Will never happen again.

I'm surprised how little buzz this tournament is generating though. I was out at a pub yesterday and no one was paying attention to the game. No one cheered when Canada scored or anything. Not a peep.

I have wanted to get into it.. I just find myself busy with other things. Instead of watching the game yesterday I was outside enjoying the sunshine.

I will likely watch some games this weekend though.

Yeah that's fair, but at a bar you'd think people would be watching.

Maybe it was just the crowd.
