Well if the Yankees sweep the Jays it's going to leave 4 teams within 4 games for the division, and they'll be playing each other all September. Could be a pretty wild month with excessive scoreboard watching.

Just getting back to the Jays going 13-12 to finish 90-72.

Boston would have to go 15-10 to finish 91-71
Baltimore would have to go 16-9 to finish 91-71
New York would have to go 20-6 to finish 91-71

Detroit would have to go 16-9 to finish 91-71
Houston would have to go 18-6 to finish 91-71
Kansas City would have to go 20-5 to finish 91-71

So 13-12 leaves the Jays in a really good spot to get at least a Wild Card spot.
Any more wins than that and they start looking really good for the division crown.
Any less, well....let's hope not.

Sometimes I think people lose site of the scale of Baseball's schedule. Great teams often fail to win 2 out of every 3 games. Lousy teams seldom win less than 1 out of every 3 games. It's really a game where if you methodically can go 5-4 every 9 games, that come end of the year...you will be in the mix for the playoffs.

The Jays have 37 wins in 69 road games. No one else in the AL has won more games on the road than the Blue Jays have. Jays are 5 games up on the road...Boston is 4, and the Red Sox have 15 more road games to the Jays 12.

The Jays aren't running away, but they are in good position. Just not putting on the September sprint that they did last year. Than again...at this time last year they had just passed the Yankees, and no one else in the Division was doing much. This year there are 4 teams who are all likely going to win at least 84 games, and 3 who have a shot at 90. Last year the Yankees finished second with 87. They could win 87 this year and finish 4th.

Totally agree with Sylvanfan. Take a look at the records over the last 10 games:

The Jays (6-4) have actually gained a game on both Boston (5-5) and Baltimore (5-5), and stayed even with New York (6-4). Despite the tough losses (losing 2 to TB for example) that make it seem like the Jays are stumbling and letting others catch up, they are actually better off than they were a week and a half ago. One more game up on Boston and Baltimore, and 10 less games left in the season.

Yup.

Nothing has changed in the AL the last couple of weeks except the Royals cooled off.

Bad luck there for Travis. He's so good I'm going to give him a pass on that one.

Not so sure it's really that weird. Ever since they moved into the new park it's been like this.

Yankees refuse to drop seat prices. I read somewhere that when they opened the new stadium, ticket prices like quadrupled and they refuse to bend despite low weekday attendance.

I didn't realize Pillar and his wife were starting a Spina Bifida foundation. Not that I wasn't a fan to begin with but this makes me even more of a fan(I have Spina Bifida).

Fair enough, I didn't realize that this is now the norm. I guess in my mind I'm still picturing the constant sellout crowds from years back.
