My butler and maid asked if I could turn up the heat; I told them it would come out of their paycheques.

I'd keep my furnace off until Oct. 1 at the very earliest on principle, but I live with a woman who is always cold. I told her that it's better to heat the small space around the body than a whole house, but she disagrees. I was wearing shorts this weekend as the furnace was running. The big advantage of living with a woman who is cold is at bedtime.

Our normal temps are 18 at night and 21 when we're home and up.

I installed a Nest system and am struggling with it. It self-changes and the other evening the AC came in when the temp was 19. I have to go in and change the settings.

Given that gas is basically free right now, I guess it doesn't matter to much, as far as conserving for money is concerned.

I refuse to be cold in my house. The furnace comes on automatically and keeps it at 24. It definitely worked this weekend.

I turned it on Sunday night. Baby's room was 16C. That seemed a little chilly even for me. I try not to turn the thermostat up past 20 C. But sometimes it's just toooooo cold and I'll relent to 21. Or 22.

I'm so glum that summer is over already.

24? Even in the summer? That is brutally hot for inside the house.

Mine came on automatically on Sunday. I was comfy but my wife said she was freezing. Try and keep the house around 18-20

I guess I'm used to it. Sometimes the house gets up to 28 because of the west facing windows, so I crank the AC for awhile, but I have had to switch it back to heat a few times this summer. For some reason, inside my house, I like it warm. 24.

Nothing says winter is coming like the thermostat hitting the low temp and turning on the furnace and getting that lovely hot dust smell the first time.

Nope, haven't turned the heat on since the middle of January last year. I think we needed heat for 2 days. A cold snap!

That being said, we're just finishing summer here and it truly is awful here from mid-June through mid-September. Nothing like needing a shower after spending 5 minutes outside. Plus, we deal with hurricanes.

Every place has pros and cons when it comes to weather.
