Does anyone know of a Canadian online bike parts retailer?

I was just looking at the MEC website and it seems they really pared down thier online product offering.

Historically, I have used Jensen USA for stuff my lbs does not carry or have a wide selection in.

TBS in Kelowna. Limited selection, but I use them mostly for brakes. Prices almost on par with CRC, fast shipping. They have a clearance section with smoking deals sometimes. Picked up a 760mm RF SL handlebar for $130, 4 day shipping.

General wondering here, as there has been a ton of talk about stolen bikes. I use the kryptonite u-locks on my bikes. I was wondering if anyone has had a bike stolen with that brand of lock on it? Also wondering if anyone has actually gone down the path of the "$5000 Guarantee" with Kryptonite and reclaimed the cost of their bike from an "unbreakable" lock? I have never registered as my bikes are nice, but not super nice. I probably should next time I buy a lock though.

I think I can start participating in this thread. Just bought a new bike this weekend. It's quite a lot of bike for me, definitely the best/fastest bike I've ever owned and the first time I've used clipless pedals, but I'm pretty excited to get the hang of it.

^ nice rig - I am sure you will enjoy it. I would love to add a road bike to the quiver; however, I am sure that head office would not approve that.

This morning I rode moose mtn road to 7-27 to sulphur springs to elbow valley to pnuema.

Elbow valley is a split personality with some really sweet sections of trail, but then some brutal climbs littered with roots and loose rocks.

Sure wish there was some sections of trail in Bragg or the area where you could rack up 20 or so km's without some of the gut busting climbs......

How overgrown is pneuma right now? I'd like to get another couple 727 in before the end of the season, but I hate having my shins shredded by branches.

Yeah, I know.....it might help provide context for you if I said I grew up in Manitoba...and I then lived is SW Ontario for a few years. Not a lot of gut busting climbs.

The vegetation on pnuema is pretty thick so the trail is tight. I decided to make the whole thing a little easier by riding the road.

I think I like Merlin more than 7-27; however, I'd say 7-27 takes me a little out of my comfort zone.

No race face stuff and free shipping on orders over $300.

Some of thier prices did not seem that great to me (spank spike pedals for $167) a would likely be the same price as lbs.

I dressed for the ride home and wore shorts this morning. It was a bit icy on the lower shins going down the hills. It's a bit of a gear grinder around this time of year when you start carrying different layers for the cool morning and the warm afternoons.

Best ways to become a better climber:
1. Lose weight
2. Train
3. Ride more hills consistently. The more you ride, the better you get.

So I am just getting into commuter biking and was wondering what the proper rules are for a biker going straight at this intersection:

As far as I can figure, you:

-Head to the right around the traffic circle
-When you get to the east end of the traffic circle, there is a break in the pavement for bikes, you use it
-if there are cars heading west (left), are you to wait for the cars, walk like a pedestrian... or ??

Yes the traffic sign clearly shows right turn only, but that is only for cars I believe, as

-Google maps shows the biking route going straight here
-The City's own Bike sign shows the bike route going left, right or straight at this location, meaning, the City expects you to cut through the hole in the pavement they left for bikers

Calgary Roads dept fail, again. Ugh. You could do what you suggest, but if it is busy I'd come around to the right, and stop and pull off the road at the cross walk. Get off, and be a pedestrian to cross. If it isn't busy, just bunny hop the whole stupid thing. Why couldn't they just make it a traffic circle? Why 3/4 of one?
