Sure, okay. All I said was "why" - as in, I don't really understand why someone wouldn't at least be doing the speed limit there. It's really not an inherently dangerous driving situation. I don't think it warrants an argument.

I just answered your question as to the "why"
This shouldn't be offensive to you

Speed differential of that amount is pretty dangerous. That stretch of Glenmore between Blackfoot and Deerfoot is also has pretty regular accidents because of people not paying attention. Doing 80 or 90 just doesn't seem safe if the right 2 lanes are 70 km/h under the speed limit, so coasting down the hill seems a lot smarter.

So I'm going to do a total 180 because I don't drive that part of Glenmore often, much less when it's busy. But I'm in a cab and in that exact spot, we were driving about 80 in the left lane when suddenly a Mazda 3 just pulls out into the left lane without even looking, leading the cabby to slam on the brakes and leading me to burst out laughing. I explained this thread to him.
Seriously, if we had been in a big dump truck or something, unable to stop, Mazda dude and his girlfriend in the passenger seat would 100% be dead. But on the go on their merry way, giving no indication that they even noticed.
Mazrim was right everybody, I was wrong.

Good call.
It's not speed limits that matter most, it's flow.

Without a doubt, you have to drive for the conditions. But I drive Glenmore, and there is often someone who is afraid to drive, which results in someone tailgating them to get them to move over.
If that is you, move over or take the bus. You might not be a good enough driver.

Wait, you can't be serious? I mean your first post was bad enough but then you follow it up with this?
You are unbelievable and I know somehow you'll reply to this and be the persecuted victim like you always are, but your response of "you might not be a good enough driver" is garbage but really not surprising to be honest.

Sorry if I triggered you. Perhaps you can take on the cause of slow drivers or bad drivers? They could certainly use your help.
Is there a SJW freeman group you can share this with?

A SJW freeman group? I honestly have to google that to know what you're talking about but won't since you're a troll and not worth the time.

Just report the troll. That's probably the one thing involving him that might actually be worth your time. Everything else would require you to lower yourself to that level.

Absolutely. Especially escalators. If you're going to stand there on your phone like a lazy sack, GTF to the right.

The stay to the right rule seems to make everything run smoother. Try to walk in the 'wrong' lane at a mall, you will keep bumping into people.

Dunno what he said earlier, but one time on Deerfoot many years ago during rush I weaved my way through the mass of traffic only to find two ladies, one on the left lane and one in the middle, each going 50km/hr, driving next to each other. With nothing but clear road in front of them.
Autonomous cars must come sooner than later.

A guy almost started a fight over this at YEG a few months back, it was on a moving walkway in the terminal. This dude and his maybe 6-7 year old daughter were standing beside each other blocking it, and then this guy starts trying to push the girl out of the way to get past on the left without an "excuse me" or anything first. Dad was not happy, yelling ensued, and fists would have been thrown if not for a couple ramp guys who jumped in to deescalate it.
Keeping to the right is serious business.

I couldn't help but think of this thread yesterday as I was heading out to Calaway Park yesterday morning. Two cars, in both lanes bottled up cars going 90 just after it turns 110 on HWY 1.
No one could go anywhere, and folks were just hanging out in both lanes.

Car periscopes can't come soon enough. If I knew that the blockage was some people driving 50kph under the speed limit, you at least know the weaving in and out will accomplish getting around them at some point. If it's just congestion all the way out to Balzac or something, you can just rest easy knowing there is nothing that can be done.

Has it been brought up yet that black pick-up truck owners are the most aggressive drivers on the road? There must be something that attracts certain drivers to certain vehicles, but whenever I see someone driving hyper aggressively, most of the time it ends up being a black truck.
These must be the guys that grew out of their 1984 Mustang 5.0.

Google maps on android (not sure about apple) is the best thing ever. If you zoom in on the route you're taking, it shows where there are traffic jams. If there is a red streak on your route, that is stopped traffic. Yellow is moving slowly, and green is moving at the speed limit. It's live, all the time. Must be based on how many phones are moving at what speed.

I used to use Waze until it became a big advertising structure for Google. It was great. Wish they had paid options for those apps, because having big Tim Hortons ads pop up while you are at a stop light was frustrating.

You nailed it. The people that don't know how to drive are slowing down everyone from merging correctly, and then 'drivers' in the far left lane start slowing down.
