I imagine this will be the first of many Chad Kroeger lyrics we see in this thread. Regardless of what you think of their music, he is a dreadful writer of lyrics.

Not only did Kid Rock just lazily combine the music from two different songs (which isn't terrible per se), but when he rhymes 'things' with 'things', that is just...terribly lazy.

I have a love/hate relationship with Africa, but "I know that I must do what's right, as sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti" is awful, the worst simile in music. It's this weird double-nested simile, the first of which is an "as... as" simile, the second of which is a "like" simile comparing one mountain to another, but then there's a misplaced modifier on the mountain that makes it seem like it's Olympus that is rising above the Serengeti... and then there's just so many syllables crammed into that line.
At least I thought it was the worst simile in music, until I heard the line "I love you like a lovesong." I have no words for how dumb that is.
