Anyone thinking of moving to Kelowna, it definitely is not the same as it was when I was growing up that is for sure. Lots of "fitness" experts and "kelownafornia" types of people there nowadays. When I do decide to move back to the Okanagan I will most likely relocate to Lake Country or Peachland, Penticton is ok but population has shifted a lot as well. Overall unreal place to grow up, I will make sure my kids get the same experience

I love the rest of the Okanagan valley though, great weather, wineries, food, etc.
It would be tough decision between Penticton and Kelowna. Kelowna has all the shopping and such while Penticton has that small town feel. From what I have been told by a few people we talked with that live there, in the winter Penticton gets a period of low cloud that hangs around for a month or two and can be depressing for even people that have moved from Vancouver and the city slows to a crawl for activity.
After being back in Calgary for a week I can tell you I really, really miss the weather. This October weather in August business is really lame.

I love the rest of the Okanagan valley though, great weather, wineries, food, etc.
Just a heads up, pouring bleach on your eyes after watching that doesnt work.
It does vastly improve the experience of watching it though.

I fully expected this to be satire, or a parody. Instead, this perfectly summed up what drives me nuts about that place. Every restaurant, bar and beach is filled with people like this.
Oh, the local school system needs a unit on what a coast is. Seeing them rap about the west coast repeatedly added cringe to my cringe.

I just dont get the obsession with a certain culture (California) while at the same time professing the love of your current location (Kelowna) and then just franken-mashing the two things together and calling it good. Its just...its bad, its all bad and it doesnt make any sense and it wasnt at all in any way, shape or form good in any way. Nor does it make sense, which is understandable based on just how bad it all is.

bahahaha - what is with that video? what's with all the "w" with fingers things? west coast maybe.... except that the west coast is about 5 more hours...west.
i think i've only ever seen a couple people do the "w" fingers and it was guys just being a bunch of goofs referring to the westside (well before it was renamed west kelowna)
i don't really see that kelownafornia thing, but then again, i don't hang out at beaches or down town
i'm still trying to figure out if those guys were serious with that video or if it's supposed to be a comedy piece?

Making a 'K' with your fingers is hard. And they very clearly cant count that high.

To be fair I just spent another 5 days in Kelowna and some of it downtown/at the beach and didn't see any more people like "that" then you would in Calgary or elsewhere.
Still don't think I could live there but I don't think its as bad as being made out here.

Yeah I agree. We ran into quite a few very nice people at the dog beaches that were pretty normal and although I did run into a lot of senior citizens they were all very nice and I recognize that they can be lonely so I don't mind chatting up with them and such. I'm sure there are people in Kelowna as depicted in that video but it's not like they are at every corner. For me maybe the biggest thing was the sheer amount of backpackers, hobos, and homeless. You walk down the streets with your young children and some of these guys look like they just woke up in the ditch with soiled cloths, ratty hair, and a smoke burning between their fingers. Got a lot of; "Daddy is that a homeless person". None of them bothered us but it's just that there's a lot of them around.
