Another plane flies into a building in NYC

I just heard another plane went into a residental tower in the upper east side. Anyone hear about that?

On CNN they are saying it was a small plane, possibly even a helicopter. It looks like a couple "residences" are currently in flames. Flames are coming out of 4 windows. The weather is really crappy there -- foggy and all that, so that might have had something to do with it.

I just got access to a TV, the only thing I've heard is that the ceiling is like 1800 feet, that probably would not explain it. And they've said that the plane is now on the street below.

Saying now that terrorism is not involved....yet NORAD is still putting fighter planes above numerous US Cities.

FAA saying that the plane was a fixed wing aircraft, crashed into the 20th floor.

I sure hope this is some freak accident. My wife is about to get on a plane in Chicago, and if this is an attack, our lives could get a little complicated over the next 24 hours.

interesting, i lived about 4 blocks away from that building up until a few months ago. oh well, hope everyone inside was at work or doing something outside....although knowing that the neighborhood is full of old rich people, i have a feeling that there were some people home.

Table, those smoke stacks (my guess is a ConEd power plant) are north of the building or on Roosvelt island?

I can't tell what side the plane came from but it's the same side as the smoke stacks are relative to that building on 72nd.

those are on the manhattan side, as i remember there being a plant really close by. those would have to be some pretty high smoke stacks for it to stick into the picture if it was across the river.

CNN is saying one fatality so far...Broadcast News is saying that NY Police are saying TWO people are dead now. CNN just interviewed a pilot that witnessed the accident...says it looked like a single engine plane that was clearly in trouble, as it was flying all erratic and stuff (paraphrasing obv.)
