Do you say it like Mouse from The Matrix?

"For all we know Tasty Wheat could taste like chicken, or tuna fish!"

Well if you didn't say "fish" after Tuna, how would your dinner guests know it's not Tuna pork?

This is really timely as I'm going to be going out for Japanese tonight where I know I'll definitely be ordering bluefin tuna belly and ikura because I do every time.

That was my intention when I started this thread.

To remind everyone that there's still a good 3% of the tuna population left so let us feast on their delicious flesh!

The good news is most blue fin tuna is mislabeled and fake so you likely aren't hurting the population

Tuna comes in steaks. Tunafish comes in a can.

We won't even discuss Jorma Kaukonen.

You know fish is the only wild food we mass consume. Everything else is farmed. The amount of fish caught in the ocean maxed out in the 90s. Eventually farmed fish will be your only choice.

No. North Americans eat primarily Skipjack Tuna, which is in no way endangered.

Irregardless, I like tunafish.

I could get on board with that. That would seriously drive her crazy.

Bluefin Tuna are monsters. I worked on a longline boat off the coast of Australia after I graduated from high school, and a 300kg bluefin completely straightened a 3" hook the thickness of a pencil.

Is this issue about protecting all species from extinction?

Or about preserving blue fin so that future generations can continue to enjoy their taste?

I can see businesses maybe getting on board if the issue was framed the 2nd way.

If you are part of the problem you are part of the solution.

Hope we can keep these guys alive. My cousin is a fisherman in PEI and caught a Bluefin that was sold to Japan about 5 years ago for 12000 USD.

He should have just frozen it as an investment. That is what some of the big Japanese companies that deal in tuna are doing, just freezing big tuna and waiting for them to go extinct in the wild.

Well that's a rather depressing thought. Guess we haven't learned anything since killing off the Dodo.

I blame my cat. She can't resist those Tuna Temptations.

She's probably eating the eyes/head/tail, etc, but still.

It's the Dodo's own fault for being so delicious.
