Having lived in Vancouver and Toronto, and now in Ottawa, I know I need to be in a big city... small town living is not for me.

Yeah, I'm in Ottawa also and being from Calgary originally, I have often made similar references between Ottawa and Calgary circa 1995.

The city is spread out just like Calgary with heavy expansion to the extreme West and East ends of Ottawa... just the changes since I moved here in 2002 to now have been huge.

I've heard from a number of people that London, ON is much like Calgary size-wise in the early 80s. It's a beautiful city (I went to UWO there), and I would have lived there in a second except the trees and grass there are very bad for my allergies. I'd be dead in a few years.

I've lived in Ottawa my whole life and my first choice of a place to relocate to would have been Calgary before real estate price went bananas. Like Ottawa, it's a perfect size for a city. Not so big that getting across the city is an hour long drive but big enough that there are plenty of amenities in terms of shopping, theatres, restaurants, sporting facilities and airport connections.

I haven't seen the huge changes that you've seen but there has been heavy development in the suburbs outside the greenbelt in Orleans, Kanata, Barrhaven and Riverside South.

In the real world (where money exists), I'd plan on eventually moving to Canmore. It's like Banff without the tourists!!

In a fantasy world (where money doesn't exist) I would live in New York (Manhatten) in a heart beat. So much to do there. It might take a while to become a Rangers fan (still 2nd to the Flames though), but it would be an easier transition than some.

I'd be open to pretty much anywhere in the world. Make me an offer and I'd go!

In no particular order....

Halifax, NS
Fredericton, NB (great little city but the 3 years I lived there I was stuck in a call centre and couldn't get any other job because I didn't speak French)
Saint Andrews, NB
Whitehorse, YT (have never been there but from what I've seen in pictures and on Wings over Canada it looks great)

Had to bump this one back up because I had to give my two cents. I movedthis year to the city I've always wanted to live: Vancouver. Otherwise, my choices are:

Stockholm or Gothenburg, Sweden

Thimphu, Bhutan <- the most spectacular mountain capital I've ever seen!

New York City

Sydney, Australia
