Sidney Crosby is the captain for Team Canada. Alternate captains are Jonathan Toews and Shea Weber. #worldcup #tvasports

I don't mind the Crosby circle jerk in the media, it is a nice relief from the McDavid circle jerk.

I keep waiting for the U-23 to announce McDavid as captain.

At least Crosby has done something to earn that circle jerk.

He doesn't wear a letters with the Flyers, but I'd be surprised if Couturier doesn't get a letter with NA.

Going by Wikipedia, they are the only two who had letters last year.

We should add a poll to see who everyone is cheering for in this side show.
I'd be surprised if the U-23's didn't win. Johnny and McDavid on the same line lol are you joking.

Wouldn't it be neat if Monahan is named captain of NA.

I actually don't think u23 stands a chance against team Canada. It's will be the type of game where TC wins 3-0 with 2 empty net goals. Youthful skill and energy is great but the raw talent is roughly equal. I think TC would play a controlled two way game and u23 will find it frustrating when they don't want to trade chances. I'll take the veteran moxy in a game like that.

would be neat.
my pick for captain is Saad. The only Stanley Cup winner on that team.

And Matt Murray, but yeah he probably shouldn't be the captain

Being a Stanley Cup winner does not make someone a leader. I don't think Saad has even worn a letter in the NHL.

My money on letters would be Couturier, Monahan and Ekblad. Not sure who will get the C and who will get A's but they're all good candidates.

Monahan's got the right temperament to captain that team. It's going to be a circus, and they're nothing but kids. Dude is a real 'eye of the hurricane' type.
Edit: 5000th post. What what.

Since this tournament is a farce I would expect marketing to be a much bigger factor than on ice leadership. For this reason I'll be shocked if Team NA's captain is anyone other than McDavid.

Monahan seems like the natural choice to be C since he wears a letter for his club team.
The marketing arm of the NHL is salivating at the epic circle jerk possibilities of Captain McDavid squaring off against Captain Crosby. Coming up next! Who will be the next hero? Will Sid repeat and save Canada on home soil like he did in 2010, or will The Next One stake his claim as the best in the world?! Stay tuned as The Captains battle it out!

I wonder who's going to slot in next to Gaudreau and Monahan...kinda hope it's Eichel and the line becomes the go to first line that puts up the most points, just to stick it to McDavid/Oiler fans.
