I have been pleased with the fruit and veg. It seems as good as what I would have picked, and nothing has seemed old, wilted, etc.

I am assuming that when your order includes frozen and dairy foods, they store them at the appropriate temp until you pick up.
|
Anything frozen or refrigerated is stored at the appropriate temperature until pickup. I'm not sure if they have a freezer up front, or if the staff run and get the frozen stuff once you arrive, but it has been fine for me.

is there option to select no-name products (i.e. tomato soup).

For sure. You can pick between all sorts of different brands, including PC and No Name, plus Campbell's and all of the others.

The Deerfoot Meadows store has an area near the checkouts with fridges/freezers specifically for these online orders.
The only problem I've had so far was getting multi-grain flour subbed for white flour...I found it very hard to believe they'd be out! I just have to be more diligent for noting which items cannot be substituted.

One more question. My pickup window is 7-9 so does that mean I'll get a text/email somewhere in between when it's ready? I don't just show up anytime I want in those 2 hours, right?

My pickup last night was between 7 and 9, and I received a text and email at 6:22. So the notification comes in advance, and then you just show up anytime in that window.
If you have allowed substitutions, you can also view them in the email (or log in). You get a chance to decline the substitution if you prefer. They also point out any substitutions when you phone them upon arrival, and you get the chance to decline it then as well.
Then they ask how you'd like to pay (I just say "card on file"), and then you wait 5-10 minutes and they'll wheel it out on a trolley.

Sure seems like a sweet setup. This could be a game changer for me because I hate shopping but often buy the same groceries.

So my wife and I gave this is a spin at the Shawnessy location today.
Surprisingly we were able to put our order in this morning and get a pickup time this afternoon. So it saved the usual "ugg do we want to rush out early & beat the crowds? Or say screw it and go through the same thing tomorrow morning?" routine.
Pickup & payment was super slick, the only caveat was that a couple of the produce items we picked ended up being way more than we'd typically buy. We've now got a massive bunch of leeks (we really only needed 1) and a human hand sized chunk of ginger.
But as others have said the convenience factor feels like it's worth more than $3-$5... not sure how long they can maintain that price point for the service of not wading through the crowds.

Just a note about pickup times. I have been late a few times for my pickup (outside the window, and one time 2 hours out) I just called them and told them and they said no problem.

We are now in week 2 of using this service (Shawnessy). On a normal shop in store for a family of 3 and a dog we would spend about $175 (a lot of impulse buying). So far in the two weeks we have been using the click and collect, we have spent $130 in total, huge amounts in savings. There were a few hiccups we had, but those were user errors, not a problem with the service. We only had to throw out 2 strawberries from one of the pound boxes, but all in all the produce has been really fresh. The meat looks good and the rest of the dry goods are very close to what we would normally pickup anyways. Check out is slick and we have not had to spend more than 10 minutes in the parking stall waiting for the delivery. We are leaning towards integrating this as our weekly grocery shop. It gives us back the whole day and is worth the extra mere $5 surcharge.

Loblaws have really nailed it with this. There is a whole niche of people (myself included) who like the products and prices at Superstore, but can't stand actually going into the store.
I have been doing this for probably two months now, and it is becoming very clear that I have nearly eliminated a couple of small convenience shopping sessions at Sobeys, Co-op, etc. and have rolled it into a weekly pickup at Superstore.
I win because the $3 is worth every penny (and much more) in time saved, and I'm spending less than I was by going to other stores for a few things. And they win because they are taking money away from their competitors by making shopping at their store way less horrible. Pleasant even. Pretty clever if you ask me.

I was saying the same thing to some coworkers the other day, I'm not a fan of a lot of ways Loblaws does things, but I have to say it's pretty brilliant on their part to identify the biggest problem they have in bringing customers to their stores(the experience) and finding a way to make it a complete non factor. I also really like the fact that it is a move that will actually generate more jobs while increasing their business, as opposed to their scan and go machines.

That's odd. I ordered from that store 6 times now with no major problems. One time I went to pick up my order and my saved payment had not gone through. She just brought the debit machine out to the car with her and we did it there.

That would make sense (bringing a debit machine out to the car). But we didn't even know where to park as we received zero instructions. When we checked out online, it said we would receive instructions by e-mail or text but we received nothing. The only instructions we received was by phone this morning telling us to come inside. Our order must have gone through since they had already picked out all our items and they were sitting in a bin on the shelf. And they obviously had my phone number as well. So only the payment (and the promotional coupon) did not go through. I'm sure we were victims of an inadvertent glitch somehow but it was still annoying to make the trek there and come out with nothing.

Yes, must have been some kind of glitch in the system.
You would normally get a text right away confirming that your order was received and the pick up slot you selected and then again on the day of pick up when they have completed your order. You just park in any of the spots and call them at the number that is on the text.
I just did an order from Europe last week and picked it up when we got home the next day. How awesome is that ? :

Looks like there is something wrong with the site right now, not loading or loading at a crawl. Twitter indicates that they are having technical problems
