Yes, that's my understanding as well.

It's a fine line though. Many of the public service were PC supporters only to ensure the likes of Alison Redford was elected premier, or Ed Stelmach before her.

The further left the PC party moved the worse it became. And now we've got the even further left NDP making people reminisce fondly of the redford years...

I'm on record (public record even) criticizing Klein back in the late 90's, and have been a pretty vocal opponent of waste in any form from the government. Ralph bucks sent me into a rage, what a disgrace.

I'm not selective on who I complain about, pretty much all provincial parties are a complete joke in Alberta.

I'd be happier if CP ran this province to be perfectly honest. The combined IQ of contributors in this thread alone is likely 100X that of the provincial candidates I have come across.

I've often wondered how CP's IQ Bell Curve would look like. Probably above average. Lots of impressive posters.

First order of business. Move the capital out of that dumpster fire town so we can work in a city with a decent hockey team.

I am a public sector employee and don't support the NDP, nor will I ever vote for them. Was basically forced to move out of oil & gas before **** hit the fan. I still spent 8 months unemployed and had to take a job moving furniture over the summer. I guess I lucked out on the timing before the NDP took power.

It's actually embarrassing that we're getting a raise while Rome burns. They are borrowing money to do this. I'm not proud of it at all, but I have to earn income. I don't really have another choice with a mortgage and bills to pay. It's like working in the twilight zone, and I'm sure some of my friends hate me for it.

She's a complete idiot, she has no control over her party, she's appointed underqualified morons to roles that they aren't suited to, because her party was a shambles before the election, she's an ideological clown who is economically clueless.

She's a prime example along with Redford or why there needs to be a recall legislation in place.

When she went to implement a carbon tax which was outside of her voted mandate because it wasn't part of her campaign platform, that alone should have triggered a referendum.

But now she's panicing and blustering, and every company with a dollar to invest is looking at statements like the one she's making and said Nertz, we're going somewhere else where we don't have a hostile government in place.

Thanks Rachel . . . you moron.

Are you sure we can trust these polls?

They've probably been rigged by Jason Kenny, or possibly Enron.

Just so we can fantasize a bit, what would this look like? I imagine the standard would have to be absolutely ludicrously high and somehow dissuade people from using it cynically. I'm not even sure this IS a good example of where it would be used.

Sure, we're (almost) all pretty upset at how the NDP are running the province, but is it markedly different from what could reasonably have been expected the day they were elected? Are Albertans not getting more or less what they voted for, albeit a clumsily executed, obviously inexperienced version?

BC is the only province that has recall.

http://www.elections.bc.ca/index.php...iative/recall/

Recall is a process through which a registered voter can petition to remove a Member of the Legislative Assembly from office. A voter can only petition to recall the Member for the electoral district in which they are registered to vote. The voter must collect signatures from more than 40% of voters eligible to sign the petition in that electoral district. Applications for recall petitions cannot be submitted to Elections BC during the 18 months after the Member was elected. In Canada, the recall process is unique to B.C. – no other province or territory has a system in place for removing elected representatives from office between elections.

Yeah, zero chance a recall with that process would work here for Notley. Her district has been Orange for the better part of 30 years.

Interesting. 40% would definitely be a very hard number to get to, particularly in enough districts to drop them out of power (would need 33). A real, concerted effort might be able to get 10-15.

EDIT: Nik, you wouldn't be trying for Notley. You'd be aiming for the seats in Southern Alberta.

We'll just have to watch them drive down the highway on bent rims, throwing sparks, ignoring the blown out tires and staying the course for three more years.

That's not really a poll though. Not a random sample of the population and the angry are far more likely to reply. Would it kill anyone to do real work like poll a random sample of people on what they think.

That said I'd bet the number looks like around 80%

That is in that riding. If a bunch of districts were to flip then you go from a majority to a minority.

Also even if a handful flipped or failed to flip a crackpot leader could not stand there and say everyone is backing me.

Who'da thunk it? You can't fund socialist social policies without socialist levels of taxation.

You also can't run provincial finances like household finances.

Albertans, based on this thread, are still resistant to these ideas.
