I like the Flaming Hot Cheetos (and with Lime) available in the States. I'm sure it's an acquired taste.

That sounds awesome. My favourite flavour of chips right now is PC Chili & Lime Kettle Style. But that's because I can't get Old Dutch Rave Salt & Pepper locally.

Ahh the clear A&W cream sode - how I long for it. Used to have it up here and then replaced it with that pink junk.

One of the other great products available in the US but not up here is Dark Heineken. Mmmmmmmmmm.

You guys have Jalapeno Cheddar Doritos and they freaking rule. We have 17 flavors of doritos and not a single one even approaches the cheesy goodness of the Canadian jalapeno and cheddar.

Your potato chips and all the lovely varieties are so much better than ours it isn't even funny.

Two words people: Cherry coke. I love going through Customs with 80 litres of that stuff.

They also have sour cream and onion baked lays... so good!

And I hate to say it, but I love those Chipotle restaurants that are owned by McDonalds.... mmmmmm

What?!?! That hyper-salted, tooth shattering, coated-in-grease corn snack? It's way better than Cheetos!

Im a Canadian girl who moved out to the US in 2000...and I've had this conversation many times. This is my list:

Food I miss from Canada that I can't find in the US:
TimBits, Aero's, Coffee Crisps, Smarties (you know what they call Smarties here? You know those little round pastel colored candies that you often get at halloween, its in plastic wrap and the candies are little, each a pastel color?..thats Smarties for the Americans), Ketchup Chips (I would PAY someone to send me Ketchup Chips right now), AMERICAN CHOCOLATE SUCKS, so all the Canadian Nestle chocolate bars

Food that Canadians are Missing Out On:
Krispy Kreme, In N Out, Cherry Coke, Trader Joe's food, Chipolte,

Seriously..Ive lived in both countries, and Canadians have it better!

Don't know if it's available in Calgary but in Newfie friendly Safeway (Fort McMurray) Crush has a type cans of Cream Soda that are clear. The pink cream soda is called Birch Beer.

We've got Krispy Kreme here now.

I love In N Out; I'd be 500 pounds if it was here.

American Corn Pops are gross. I've been down that road.

Canadian Corn Pops are probably my favourite cereal, soooooo good. The american version is just awful, totally tasteless.

There are lots of differences between Canada/US foods, but one odd one that hasn't been mentioned is iced tea. When you order iced tea in a Canadian restaurant, they bring you iced tea. When you order iced tea in the US, they bring you cold tea.

I learned that one the hard way.

regarding iced tea, that's true..eww how could i forget? Iced tea here is not very good.

One more thing, I dont know if you guys ate PEROGIES as much as I used to when I lived in Alberta...I miss em. You cant really find them in California unless you go wayyyy far somewhere to a speciality ukrainian store, and there is only like 1 in this entire San Francisco/San Jose area

Just an FYI- you can buy it at most grocery stores in Calgary now in the summer.

And on a side note the good people at Coca-Cola have asked if I would now quit writing them letters.

We have Cherry Coke in Calgary? It's only available in the 591 ml size though. I second the Cookie Crisp cereal, I always squeeze a box in my suitcase. I noticed that our chips are much better. We have way more different flavours. In the states it's all about hot and spicy chips. Forgive me if I am wrong but the states doesnt have Dill Pickle chips either? 2 pops I like in the states are lime crush and pineapple crush (both are harder to find in Canada) once every couple of years. Count me as one who loves the American cold tea, add a little lemon mmmmm, mmmmmmm gooood.

I pass by a Krispy Kreme every day in Sydney and I saw one at Heathrow Airport too. Nevertheless, I still haven't had one since 1999 while in Alabama.

One product I miss the most from Calgary? Old Dutch's Dutch Crunch Jalapeno & Cheddar chips. They don't even have Old Dutch in Ontario and I used to get my mom to send them to me in Kingston.

Man i love Perogies!! i missed them when i came back to England. We got ours fresh from this bakery in Toon town and they were the best i have ever had. Couldn't find fresh ones here in London but then we opened the doors to the Poles and now we have a Polish shop on every street and i can get fresh ones here now. Well pleased about that.

Smarties are good, they are made by Nestle so we have had them forever over here. They recently stopped making the blue ones because they have to be made from all natural ingredients and blue bye is man-made. I cannot believe the US does not have proper smarties but then again that is the land of Hershey, the worst chocolate i have ever had. The chocolate in Europe is way better but our selections of crisps (chips) is really poor over here. My fiancee finds it frustrating that Britain offers a poor range of chip flavours. i have to admit Canada rules on the chip front. Over here we offer flavours such as bbq steak, prawn cocktail and roast chicken which my fiancee finds ridiculous. Things are getting better now though as more companies try to offer better quality chips.

My favourite from Cowtown was Old Dutch's. mmmm

You're right, no dill pickle chips....and yeah no creative/interesting chip flavors here. I dont find myself munchin on chips very often here, which is prolly a good thing I suppose, but I miss those KETCHUP Chips like you wouldnt believe. I tried explaining the concept to some friends over here, and they were like eww...but man, they are SOOO good. I would do anything for some Ketchup Chips right now.

anyone want to mail me some (HINT HINT lil brother)

You can order them online from Herr's, an American company with distribution mostly in the eastern US at http://www.herrsstore.com/ke55ozba.html. Oddly enough they're available at Costco in Ottawa, but only in ketchup flavour.
