You forgot about opening the exit door of the movie theater to let your friends sneak in?

Ya, that one was tough to pull off in Banff, given the exit design.

Funny I had the exact opposite rant on the weekend. I love all the plastic on my truck. No more rust. I know the old guys will say plastic breaks when you hit something but the simple solution is to not hit anything. Plastic is lighter (more efficient), cheaper to produce (cheaper for the consumer) and doesn't rust (last longer). Win, win, win.

I miss records, tapes and CD's.

There was something awesome about physically buying music. Listening to the album while going through the jacket liner. The feeling of opening a new tape/CD/record that had a significant jacket liner/notes was awesome.

Somehow there is something missing with digital music.

Vehicles today are far more reliable than they've ever been. When was the last time you were on a road trip with a modern vehicle and had a transmission or engine failure? It doesn't happen anymore. Old people rant about electronics because they don't understand them but electronic failures are far less common than the blown head gaskets of yesteryear.

Rewind a few decades and the family vacation often came with a bonus broken down car on the side of the road. Now it comes packed full of long line ups in the mountain parks.

Sadly we the consumer are to blame. The "don't make them like they used to crowd" come from a time when people would spend months worth of their savings to buy a fridge. Now you can get one for the same price of a weekend getaway. The quality is still out there you just have to pay to get it.

The problem is the demand for cheap goods has eliminated quality goods in some areas of the market. While you can still buy a nice piece of non flat pack furniture a lot of goods are only available in cheap and cheaper options.

That's part of it but also getting a new album and listening to it from beginning to end and finding hidden jewels in the album that may not have got picked up as singles. Now people for the most part only buy the singles (I am guilty also) and we are probably missing out on some really good songs on albums that simply aren't getting overlooked.

Not having a physical copy of your music is a major reason why I never switched to MP3's. I still buy CD's and download them onto my computer where I can burn compilaton discs of music for my vehicle.

Nothing beats Castle on a powder day - untracked powder all day due to the lack of crowds and they have some weird prevailing winds that deposit dumps of snow regularly. Plus the resort based cat-skiing is fantastic.

Louise on a quiet weekday might by the only place I'd prefer. But the price at Castle can't be beat.

Yeah! I'm a crotchety old man who enjoyed working on his vehicles. You can't do that with the vehicles of today

I still burn playlists for my friends onto CD's although a lot less often than I did 2-3 years ago. Dropbox and Spotify are really pushing CD's out of existence. Unless you car is pre-2007 and doesn't at least have an AUX input, there's no real reason for them to exist since you can now easily share and compile music, legally for cheap.

They're also freaking expensive for how useless they are.

Or available only in cheap or luxury. Retail is splitting into Walmart/Ikea or Nordstom's/Ethan Allen.

Thanks great point that I totally forgot about.

Some of my favourite songs of bands are the hidden gems.

Don't miss the mosquitos when they still had the old hanging speakers, though.

Yeah, you're right. There's nothing "arguable" about it. It simply is the best. Unless you're counting what you can get to with skins on, of course.

This is an awesome thread. Just read this:

How could anyone still be rocking an SDTV? You can buy a pretty large plain Jane 1080p LCD tv for less than a grand. You can buy a small one for a couple hundred bucks....

Even the top end TV's from last year are now half what they were 12 months ago.
