The team lost two games they should have won and still went 3-3 on the road trip. I'll take it.

Not a big baseball fan, but I've noticed a trend of the Jays opening up a big lead, and failing to close many times this year. Is something wrong with their pitching depth?

I don't want to see Brett Cecil on this roster next year.

They don't have a great pen but it has been very good up until this series in the 2nd half of the year.
All teams give up leads in a 162 season. The Jays pen had a horrific start but overall is pretty average.

The killer in this series is that Osuna blew that Save on Friday night in a game they lead the whole way which made that one into a loss where they had already used up two of their top level guys. Than to follow it up with another close game the next night where the `A' Group of relievers were used up on Saturday to cover 5 innings. This put the Jays in a position where their three best relievers were all not available for Sunday to help with another close game.

Conversely Cleveland never really used up any of their top tier guys as Manship threw one inning on both Friday and Saturday, but both Miller and Allen were still good and fresh for Sunday. I mean a 3 game series and they didn't even have to deploy Andrew Miller once and wins two games by one run. Something went right for you.

Had Travis made that play on Saturday and Sanchez is able to last for 6 or 7 innings, maybe the whole dynamic changes.

Previous to this, I can't really remember the last time the bull pen blew a lead that they had. They lost those long games against Baltimore and Houston, and Cleveland, but those were more a case of running out of gas and losing tied games.

I think the Jays A group of pitchers is genrally

Since July 1 Jays are 1st in Bullpen ERA, Whip and opponents avg against so unfortuatnely they were due for something like this. Too bad it happend against Cleveland but better than an an AL East rival.

Still consdiered it a pretty good series. Jays were 2 bad pitches away from sweeping arguably the best team in the AL and at various points of the series had 4 of their better bats/players out of the lineup.

Yeah, the Jays lineup is somewhat disabled right now. Even Donaldson has been visibly hurting for some time here. The Friday lineup was a lineup that a lot of teams who are dead in the water in September might field.

I look at that Indians team that they have and not a lot of qualms from me on how they currently look. Decent lineup that would be better with Michael Brantley. Good pitching staff, and a pretty solid bull pen.

If Atkins and Shapiro can replicate that in Toronto with a few more dollars in payroll to upgrade the power, I think most Jays fans would be pretty happy.

Definitely lots of "glass is half full" ways to look at that series, and the road trip overall.

Still though, this week the Jays really need to tighten up and get some W's.

They play 3 each, at home, against the two worst teams in the AL. The Twins and Angels are a combined 46 games below .500 and neither team is hot at the moment either. They are both 3-7 in their last 10 and Minny is currently on a 4 game skid.

Really need to win 4 games at a minimum this week, as after that they start a long stretch of games against the AL East, which is never easy.

Agreed and that's why I don't really understand the people who get upset with Shapiro and a "Cleveland" presence coming over. Cleveland's drafting, acquisition and development of young talent is far more impressive than anything the Jays have done in probably well over a decade.

I get its about money and peole don't think he will spend it but let's see what happens before we make assumptions. At the end of the day, Shaprio oversaw some very impressive team building in Cleveland and Jays desperately need that here.

Looks like Edwin is getting sued for knowingly giving a woman STDs. The article says she is demanding $11.5M from him in the lawsuit.

Interesting lineup today for Dickey with Thole catching and Martin as DH.

@ShiDavidi: John Gibbons says Devon Travis has an issue in third knuckle on right hand, received an injection, needs a day off. #BlueJays

@bnicholsonsmith: Jose Bautista may not need rehab games before returning per Gibbons. #BlueJays expect him to DH regularly when he's back.

So many guys banged up it seems. Sure hope it doesn't keep the Jays from the post season. This team doesn't get many opportunities, would hate to see it go down the toilet due to most of the key guys nursing nagging injuries.

Anyways, Bautista DHing lots down the stretch is awesome. Would mean better defense in the outfield, and no Smoak at the plate.

Well having JB as DH means EE is playing first, he hasnt been an everyday 1B in forever. Do they platoon those two as DH/1B, JB has/can play there but not ideal by any means, with an occasional Smoak (ugh) start at first. Lots of options, but also some big questions there.
